The Mildred Guest Haus was exactly as shown in the pictures. The view out the back from the bedroom windows allowed us to see deer and on the last night there must have been a dozen deer in the field. The bed was comfortable and slept well. It is not too far from the road but at night there is no traffic and we were never bothered by noise. The window covering work well to blocked out light or let in all the views of the back of the property. The kitchen is also very nice but this seems to be a newer offering and one thing we did not find was a cutting board. Overall, a very pleasant place to stay and happy that we chose it.
My visit to the Mildred House was fantastic! I was in Mason to drive around the area to see the beautiful wildflowers and I thoroughly enjoyed the visit. The house was wonderfully authentic and having grown up in a small town myself, I appreciated Mason's charming town square. If you are in the area and appreciate local history, I would highly recommend staying at the Mildred House.
The Mildred Guesthaus was very clean in all areas of the home. The bedroom and bathroom are both upstairs, which could be an issue for some, but we were aware of this from the listing. The windows covering three sides of the bedroom allowed in a lot of light. The AC worked very well. We requested additional washcloths (were given only two for a four-night stay for two people) and they were delivered quickly. We noticed a few of the amenities listed weren't available, but probably could've been provided if it was really important. There were no hangers or extra blankets as listed. The bathroom lacked hooks to hang a towel and no place in the shower for your own hygiene items, but did have a drying rack. The home is off a road with a decent amount of traffic which is loud at times, but I always bring earplugs. Saw a few deer right outside the bedroom window in the early morning. The outside has plenty of seating with nice historical features.
So nice to get away from the city and get a little grounded with the countryside again. Beautiful location and the hill country around this area is absolutely stunning.
