Orkney retreats really do go above and beyond to ensure your stay is as special as possible they provide every comfort you may need. The island is so peaceful and friendly we would move there tomorrow if we could. What an experience I would recommend to everyone. The beds were like clouds and hosts couldn’t have done more to ensure we had a great stay. If the stars went up to ten they would get them all!!
It was hygge indeed! the cottage was fabulously furnished by Dunelm with everything soft, furry and cuddly. we had a great week relaxing in the outdoor tub and watching for seals and whatever else wildlife decided to swim by! perfect place to want to retreat to when it's so stormy out!

Sanday is one of Orkneys outer north isles. It can be accessed by a 90 minute ferry journey from Kirkwall on the main Orkney island. It is famed for its stunning beaches reminiscent of the carribbean, its abundant wildlife and its friendly local community. Sanday is particularly of interest to those who enjoy getting off the beaten track, coastal walks, fishing & game, watersports, cycling, discovering archaeology and simply experiencing authentic, slow-paced island life. It has a lovely heritage centre and craft hub, two pubs and even a Pizza restaurant/cafe. The site: visitsanday has good local information.

Getting around: Car, complementary mobility scooter, bicycles and electric bikes for hire, walk, taxi, bus service from ferry.
