The Gillen House is an amazing place to stay. Full-on Victorian charm and artefacts. Rooms are unique, large, fun! There was plenty of space for us 7 family and friends. Location was perfect for us total solar eclipse chasers; we did travel an hour on eclipse day to find ideal conditions. On the days before and after the eclipse we headed to Inks Lake State Park for a gorgeous wildflower hike, and to local attractions like bowling, mini-golf, the sculpture garden, and the world's largest spur. Street noise level was as described and not too obtrusive. Kaili was super responsive, which was helpful because there were some things that needed sprucing up in the kitchen and elsewhere. The next guests should have it even better than we did.

The home was a beautiful historic showpiece, and the mattresses were new and wonderfully comfortable. As an historic home, of course it was a little stale, but there were air fresheners that kept that at bay. It was great staying in a large home in the area - we were in town for a wedding with a need for 5 rooms, and it met our needs in that sense. The museum quality of the decor was lovely, but not something that made for a comfortable stay. Again, as an historic home, there were not many outlets, and the lovely master bath only had a claw-foot tub, not a shower, so we had to walk thru the living room for a shower, and grateful that one had been upgraded, if not with space, at least a great showerhead. The mirrors were also lovely but not terribly practical; I was not tall enough to see into the mirror in the master bath. Kali was wonderfully responsive when we needed her; when finding the location, definitely look for the Shell & Shell Attorney Signs!

Thank you very much! The house is nice, clean and comfortable. I studied its history with interest, as well as obtained information about the Lampasa area. The owner is helpful and kind. If I come back to Lampasas, I will definitely choose this house. Thank you!

Beautiful house, well appointed with thoughtful details like the white noise machines. We had lots of family and there was plenty of everything- coffee cups, utensils and extra blankets! The host was responsive and welcoming- we are already talking about coming back in 2024!

If you love old historic houses with tons of little historic pieces and photographs, or if you ever wanted to go back and visit your great great grandmas house. This is your chance. Location, grocery store, liquor store many fast food restaurants and other restaurants around the house. Gas stations and other shops are all walking distance or a short drive away from the house. Parking is plentiful for larger cars and the parking driveway goes around the house so no need to move a car to get in or out if there are multiple cars. Large beautiful dining room table to gather around. The kitchen is small and functional with a coffee maker and plenty of utensils. There is a washer/dryer. The bedrooms on the side and in the back of the house were the ones we used. The 2 front bedrooms facing the street could be loud from traffic The house provided small excellent white noise cancelling devices. I did not use the front bedrooms so this was not a problem for me. Communications excellent.
