The stable was built in 1830 for the neighbouring old rectory, and was refurbished last year. The building retains many original features including brick & flint walls, tack-boards, original fireplace, high windows, stable door and vaulted ceiling with exposed wood beams. The interior has been fitted to a very high standard. The grounds include a grass tennis court (from May to September) that is accessible for guests to use via Chescombe Lane - don't forget your rackets and balls! The accommodation is extremely generous: the main living space comprises a huge vaulted area with a large wood burning stove and double sofas, surrounded by beautiful original artworks from Dorset artists, inviting you to relax and unwind. The living space extends into the dining area with its contemporary Saarinen marble dining table and tulip chairs. The custom-made kitchen is very well equipped to prepare meals throughout your stay. The ground floor has a utility and boot room which is clad with original tack-boards, leading through to the cloakroom with its exposed brick & flint interior walls. The ground floor is laid with local Marnhull stone with embedded fossils, and has underfloor heating for a sense of added cosiness. A wooden staircase leads up to the mezzanine floor bedroom with its king-size bed and en-suite bathroom with a large shower enclosure and exposed flint walls. Access to the outside area is through one of two doors which lead out to the pretty south-facing garden terrace, which offers a seating area for two with a garden parasol, and it is the perfect spot for enjoying morning coffee.
Beautiful property in lovely surroundings. Lots of local recommendations and helpful advice. Highly recommend.
Ten stars. You will want to live there. Exceptional in every way. Highly recommend. Airbnb at its finest. Friendly and gracious hosts.
We needed emergency accommodation after our house was flooded. The Stables provided a peaceful and comfortable refuge for a couple of weeks while we sorted things out. Judith was very helpful and we would recommend the Stables to anyone wanting a holiday in Dorset.
Had a great stay at The Barn. It was well equipped, very comfy and spotlessly clean. Highly recommended.
This was a perfect holiday cottage. From the minute we arrived it felt like home. The fire was lit making the cottage warm and cosy. Plenty of wood provided to keep it that way during our stay. Everything was pristine. The property was so spacious and uncluttered which made it even more comfortable. Would love to return very soon. Thanks Judith.
