I booked a stylish flat for my friend and his family, first-time visitors to the UK. They loved the chic interior and convenience for shopping and travel in the perfect location. However, a significant issue arose on the first morning – hot water trouble. The hosts commendably sent a technician twice, but the attempts failed due to a boiler capacity issue, resulting in insufficient hot water throughout the day. Despite reserving the flat for 11 days, ongoing hot water problems led the hosts to offer a refund for the remaining days on the third day. We opted to stay to avoid moving hassles. Perplexingly, the capacity issue wasn't evident when the flat was advertised for up to 6 people. Despite inconvenience during their 11-day stay, the hosts offered a mere 5% compensation, seemingly inadequate given the UK's fundamental need for hot water. While the flat's positives are notable, the offered compensation didn't justify the impact on their stay.
Place is 3 stories. Host is responsive. He was also proactive when Wi-Fi and living room heater weren't working. It was the password thankfully as Wi-Fi is one of the primary necessities in our stay due to remote work. 4 restrooms. Half bath by front door. 2nd one , small shower on 2nd floor main bedroom. 3rd, full bathroom on 3rd floor hall. 4th, attached to room attached to balcony with larger shower. Nice balcony but hard to get to. 2 bedrooms on 3rd floor is really small and tight to walk in so getting to the balcony you have to climb over the bed. There weren't enough towels. Thankfully host sent a courier to bring them couple of days later. Had a 2 hour delay we had to figure what to do at least we were able to leave our luggage. Delay was due to cleaner issues. Upon late check in, floors were dirty. Wife spent couple of hours sweeping floors so we can leave our shoes off to help keep floors clean. Host sent £72 cleaning then requests £50 for key. Was there b4 10am waiting.
A beautiful clean place one minute from tube station. Lively area, one problem was the password for the WiFi was not correct, and one heater in the living room was not working. Also the lock box was not easily accessible to enter the place. If you don’t like stairs this is not the place for you
