Gorgeous high spec renovation of an old stone mill building. Immaculately clean. Well equipped and functional amenities. Great for dog owners and walkers place to wash them and locker area Double glazing good but the road noise was a fairly constant background rumble.
Lovely area. Beautiful surroundings and perfect for walks. Busy main road just outside property so having a car is a must but overall very accessible and easy to travel to and beautifully modern.
The apartment was so nicely furnished and equipped - everything was just right. We really enjoyed the location, with great walks from the door, and Curry Cottage is a brilliant place to get something to eat. The boot store was a real bonus.
Great location for walking in the White Peaks. Had everything we needed. V minor issues that the bed was very firm and we didn't have enough towels provided but that's such a small point and doesn't detract from a great stay. Easy access to walking Mam Tor, Stanage Edge etc. Moon Inn just 5 minutes walk and good food and beer. Cupola (?) next door was closed until the weekends (time of season?). Would definitely use again if we revisit same area.
The village of Stoney Middleton has many little side streets that lead off from the main road with plenty of hidden treasures tucked away, a historic village with many stories to tell. Nearby Eyam is another village that has to be visited, well known for the story of how the local community rallied together to contain the plague from spreading once it hit their village, with many plaques adorning the cottages with the history of who lived there.
The location of Rock Mill Apartments is on the edge of the village, so easy walking distance into the heart of the village to enjoy a meal in the village pub The Moon, or a bag of chips from the award winning chip shop unusually located in an old Toll Bar building that is Grade 2 listed. There is also an Indian Restaurant Curry Cottage at Lover's Leap, with a story to tell - the name living up to the local story from many years ago, with a brief outline on the wall outside.
Close to the market town of Bakewell, known for its Bakewell Puddings, array of local independent shops and a market every Monday, or if bringing bikes you can access the Monsal Trail which is 8 miles of uninterrupted scenery and traffic free trail, leading through open tunnels and on towards Buxton. Chatsworth House is a short drive, the must see family home of the Cavendish's, where you can easily spend a day exploring the house and gardens and why not finish your trip at their farm shop in Pilsley to be able to take some local produce home with you.
There is free parking on site with 4 EV charging points. There are local buses that come through the village but you will need to check times prior to travelling as they can change with the season.
The nearest bus stop is near Toll Bar chip shop.
