This romantic place to stay offers a history all its own. It’s a converted barn (formerly an architects studio) which forms part of a scheduled ancient monument set in beautiful old orchards. The site has an unusual history - the monks from the adjacent Abbey used to give out alms in the 15th century from the Barn. Our village still contains part of the Abbey opposite us, as well as the Grade 1 listed Priests House and church. The property is a former architects studio, which adjoins a 16th century barn. The whole has been lovingly restored and is filled with light from its large window areas. We don’t currently use the barn so the architects studio is a detached space. It sits in an ancient orchard in a beautiful historic village, but it’s only a short walk down the riverbank to amenities or you can borrow bikes from us if you want to go further afield. The very large living space includes two large comfortable sofas and a big dining table. The kitchen area has a hob, fridge, microwave and air fryer. Upstairs is a huge open plan bedroom with king size bed and sofa. There is a separate large bathroom with roll top bath and walk in shower. There are lots of indoor and outdoor games which you can use, and streaming services on the TV. Outside is a private walled garden area with table, chairs, fire pit and bbq. You also have use of our orchard for evening strolls, or an outdoor breakfast, or simply a bit of sun!

Romily & Neil were perfect host all through the process of booking they were responsive and even met us on arrival . the barn is beautifully furnished and create a sense of luxury in a beautiful country setting . The character and age of the building has been tastefully kept in the conversion to a beautiful place to stay . We found the local town of Langport and other amenities filled a romantic week end away . The breakfast delivered to the door each morning with a different range of products was exceptional. We looking forward to return . Thank you Romily and Neil for an amazing stay .
The barn is beautiful and the hosts are very helpful. A lovely mix of walking along the river and spending Christmas with our family who live nearby.
What a perfect weekend. Neil & Romily were amazing hosts- so welcoming & went above and beyond to ensure the perfect stay. Communication was excellent & offered handy tips on places to visit. The studio was immaculately clean & furnished to a very high standard with everything needed & lovely little touches with L’Oaccitane hand wash & bubble bath. Bedroom area very spacious, furnished to a very high spec & super comfy bed. Location is absolutely stunning and amazing views both front & back. Without doubt the best Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in, if you’ve come as far as the comments, just go ahead and book, I promise you will not be disappointed, Neil and Romily are the perfect hosts too, everything was just the way it should be, highly recommended, thank you Neil and Romily, I will definitely be back when the site reopens.

The Architects Studio is in an area that is really convenient.
It’s 25 minutes to trendy Bruton where you will find Hauser & Wirth, a Michelin restaurant, the Newt and lots of good eateries. Or try Frome, 40 mins, with its Georgian centre and thriving arts scene.
It’s 50 minutes to the coast and the great beaches of East Devon and Dorset, or 35 minutes to Exmoor if walking is your thing. There are 3 National Trust properties all within 15 minutes drive. Or take a visit to Burrow Hill cider farm, home to the famous Glastonbury Cider Bus, for a lazy Saturday listening to music in their orchard, or visit Harry’s cider farm for a taste of traditional Somerset.
Closer to home, we are one field away from the popular River Parrett. There is a pontoon for wild swimming, and the river is also great for paddle boarding or kayaks. It’s a 20 minute walk to Langport with great bakeries/cafes, and a range of shops and pubs. We also have country pubs within walking distance.
We have plenty of private car parking on site. You can walk to pubs, shops etc or borrow bikes from us if you want to go further afield.

We are a couple with adult children (who sometimes come on holiday with us). We like good food and wine, art galleries, museums and opera/classical music. We also like the countryside, good pubs and walks, as well as the gym.
