This cozy room in the Chipman Inn features a king size bed and a private bathroom with a shower. It is situated in the historic home built by Daniel Chipman in 1828. The room is located on the back west corner of the home with its charming view of a maple tree forest, the inn is nestled within the beautiful Green Mountain National Forest. We have several large common spaces to enjoy, a large dining hall, a coffee bar, fireplace and more. A charming and spacious room at Chipman Inn! Situated on the second floor of a historic home in our picturesque village, this room offers a delightful view of our expansive yard and the quaint country store just across the street from one window. The other window provides a serene vista of our beautiful maple tree forest. You'll find a convenient small secretary desk, perfect for jotting down your thoughts or setting up your laptop. Plus, we've included a handy small refrigerator that you can plug in if you need to keep items cool.
We loved our stay at Elizabeth’s. Elizabeth is very welcoming, the place is really charming and well located for visiting Middlebury. They also provide a great breakfast. I will definitely come back again!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Chipman Inn, with Elizabeth as our host. She was kind, courteous (extending our check out time by an hour to accommodate our schedule), and responsive to our needs. It's a lovely, well-kept inn, sweetly decorated with original, period details, including a large, beautiful hearth that takes center stage in a sitting area (and which was once was the original kitchen). I look forward to returning and would recommend Elizabeth and the inn without reservation.
Ripton, a quaint town nestled in Addison County, Vermont, is a gem that blends natural splendor with rich cultural heritage. Enveloped by dense forests, serene meadows, and babbling brooks, its landscapes are a testament to the idyllic beauty that characterizes much of Vermont. Perhaps one of the most notable residents of Ripton was the celebrated poet Robert Frost. His former cabin, now a beacon for literature enthusiasts, stands as a testament to his legacy, complemented by the Robert Frost Interpretive Trail which features excerpts from his poetry. Moreover, Ripton is home to the Bread Loaf campus of Middlebury College. This institution hosts the prestigious Bread Loaf School of English and the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference, transforming the town into a literary hub during the summer months and drawing scholars, writers, and students from across the globe. Beyond its literary allure, Ripton offers a plethora of recreational activities. From hiking trails in the Green Mountain National Forest to skiing and appreciating the breathtaking fall foliage, it's a haven for outdoor aficionados. The essence of Ripton, however, lies in its community. With its modest population, the town fosters a close-knit bond among residents, evident in the communal events and palpable camaraderie. Embodying the quintessential Vermont experience, Ripton's classic New England architecture, charming general stores, and unhurried lifestyle serve as a delightful retreat from the frenetic pace of urban living.
