Hand-hewn log cabin located in the Nantahala National Forest of Western North Carolina. Perfectly situated in the countryside just 20 minutes from the quaint and charming downtown Bryson City. The drive up to the cabin borders the streaming cold waters of the Little Tennessee River which is popular for fly fishing, kayaking and even tubing. Just 9 miles away is the Gorge where the Nantahala River rushes downstream creating rapids large enough for class 2 & 3 white water rafting and kayaking. The Nantahala Outdoor Center and surrounding area also hosts great dining options and a variety of tour companies that provide canopy zip line adventures, guided rafting tours, scenic waterfall Jeep tours and much more! Within 10 miles are multiple boat access ramps and public swimming areas for Lake Fontana, the deepest lake in North Carolina. With waterways spanning over 20 miles long, summers are a popular spot for pontoon rentals, boating, fishing, jet skis, paddle boarding and even sunset cruises! The entire lakeshore bordered by the Great Smoky National Park which provides numerous hiking trail options as well as waterfalls and horse back tours. A fun day trip from the cabin could lead you to the Fontana Dam which houses a small museum telling the challenging history and importance of the Dam to the local communities. In town is the Tuckaseegee River which is also a popular spot for fishing and canoeing as it’s stream is more gentle. Island Park is a great spot to enjoy the scenery of the water and take a small walk with children or pets. Deep Creek Trailhead is a family friendly hike that passes by three waterfalls and is just 30 minutes from the cabin. During the summer, rent tubes and spend the day floating down the clear waters.
Only stayed here for two nights but it was wonderful. Great getaway cabin in a beautiful area and only 20 minutes away from Bryson City so it worked great going to the polar express. Host is very responsive and friendly and was really convenient with the self-check in. You can tell they put a lot of thought into the cabin and what they put inside. Loved that there were outside games and inside there's so many little details like a dog crate under the stairs and dog bowls, an ice machine, everything that you needed to cook in the kitchen, even had a spice rack, and so many other things I could go on and on. A really cozy place, I wish we stayed there for longer!
By far one of our top Air BnB stays! Phillip was a super host and put so much thought in accommodating our family from children activity books, baby items, dog snacks, wine to name a few. The cabin is family and pet friendly, cozy, spotless, and the interior design warm and inviting. We booked this cabin for the polar express train ride and we are so happy we did. It provided us both access to town and the peacefulness of the mountains. We highly recommend this accommodation for your next adventure.
We were the first geuss in the new restoration of this cabin. Everything was brand new. all new amenities. little extras like the blue tooth speaker in the shower, the eucalyptus spray for the shower, the sweet card and candy. puppy bowls, very appreciative of the pups being included. Maybe add a collapsible dog crate under the staircase. Loved seeing down town being dog friendly. Absolutely stunning outdoor dining table and chairs. outdoor game area on back porch was awesome. I love the retro feel with the appliances and the record player. ( listened to the eagles album) This was a get away weekend for my husband and me. Well worth it. We did the polar express train ride. I suggest it once and wear your pjs. It was cool seeing all the people walking around town on pjs. We ate an Amazing pizza across the street at Nick's. We enjoyed a drink on the rooftop of a little brewery with live music. Definitely would come back and highly recommend. Great for kids to stay with you too.
Cabin is tucked back in a quiet mountain holler with three other rental cabins in proximity while maintaining privacy and spectacular views of the grassy pasture below and mountains above.
For GPS, it is recommended to avoid Apple Maps. G-Maps and Waze are the suggested navigation apps. It’s best to screenshot the directions and/or save for offline use as it is not uncommon to lose cell service on the mountain roads.
Three Cabin Road is a small residential road that veers up and off a narrow and curvy gravel road, Hightower Rd. Follow the turn up and tucked down the end of a long drive sits the cabin offering seclusion while also neighboring a few other rental cabins. 4x4 is not required but the driveway/parking area for the house is steep and it is advised to engage your parking brake.
