Do not stay in this house. They have a rodent problem. Before our stay ended, we saw a grey rat with a long tail run across the kitchen several times before hiding under the cabinets. Because I was unable to take a photo, I’m ineligible for a refund even though we cut our stay short. On top of that, there was long black hair in my bed when I pulled back the covers. I do not recommend staying here due to overall uncleanliness and the rodents living in the kitchen cabinets.
Unit was in line with description. The front door knob needs to be repaired (it's loose which is a little sketchy but didn't create any issues for us). As noted in the description, there is a rental unit downstairs. You can occasionally hear noise from the other unit. We were there in the winter, so not too bad (all the windows were closed). It got very hot at night so we had to contact Vacasa to unlock the thermostat. Water has a copper smell but the refrigerator has a water dispenser. Property was great for our dogs. Check in was easy. Check out instructions only asked to start the dishwasher which was also easy.
It was fine. Most things were solid, some mild issues. The vacasa experience felt very sterile. Why does the 'instructions' section for this property include contract information about your properties in Belize etc? It would have been nice if the salt shaker had salt in it. The entrance is several steps which are unlit and have no railing which felt sketchy during a winter storm.
I have never left a review but felt it was necessary here. If anything, provide constructive feedback for the Host to improve. Generally, the property was average. It was clean, the location was reasonable, it allows pets, the yard was beautiful, quiet area, and it had nice views. It served the purpose for the two nights we stayed but lacks a lot of basic comforts one would find elsewhere for the nearly $500 per night. (1) The windows and sliding doors do not have bug screens (except for one). They do provide a small window AC in each bedroom which cools the rooms overnight and worked for us, but don't expect to open windows at night to hear the peaceful nature and get the cool breeze without getting bitten; (2) the dishwasher was left filled with what we assumed clean dishes that did not get very well cleaned. we ran the dishwasher again, but the dishes still did not get clean. We ended up having to wash our dishes by hand; (3) The water had a very strong ferrous smell and taste, and was evident by the copper tint on the glasses, stained shower, and stained toilet bowl (water quality needs to improve significantly); (4) the doors creaked and close loud like a contractor built 70's home (we had a toddler and it was difficult to move around without making noise while she was sleeping); (5) The host provided a coffee maker but no filters, nor any basic spices. I would have assumed some basic things like salt, pepper, coffee filters, and olive oil would be available for use ( i guess I was supposed to guess which type of coffee maker they were providing); (6) The queen bed I slept in had a very hard mattress, and the pillows are kid-size pillows; (8) The host provides a pamphlet on Vermont law of trash recycling requirements, but provide only one trash container and a small counter bin with no instructions (very confusing how the trash should be sorted) ;(9) the house was split by floor; hence, there are two apartments within the house, one on the upper floor (where we stayed) and one on the lower floor - you will encounter other guests on the property as we did. (10) There were only four of us, but we kept running out of hot water in the shower. And trust me, we did not take long showers, especially by the fact that we did not want to further inhale the ferrous scent of the water. I would consider this to be an extended stay hotel room more than an AirBnB. It has potential but needs some attention. It is evident that this is strictly an investment property, the Host does not use the property as their own.
