We had a lovely time with Roshani & Nishanka, who were so hospitable to us and accommodating, in a beautiful and unique setting in the nature. They both went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and have a relaxing time, sharing a lot of their delicious food and culture which meant we learned a lot about Sri Lanka and the Udawalawe area. They also helped solve a few problems for us with onward travel. The location is lovely, right next to the lake where you can swim, watch birds or just the shimmering of the waves. It felt very peaceful to get away from it all after a long 3 day tour, to refresh and switch off. Even though it's a bit "off the beaten track", it took us only about 30 mins drive from the national park. The lodge was thoughtfully decorated, with everything you would need, especially a good mosquito net (and a ‘normal’ bathroom). The host also kindly organised a sunrise canoe safari, which we loved. We wish we could have stayed longer, thank you so much!

Roshani and Nishanka are the perfect hosts. We felt like family and had a great time (3 days) with these two, living in their beautiful handmade lodge. Everything is made with loads of love including the great food. It was hard to leave this peaceful place again.

It was an absolutely one of a kind experience! We felt so welcomed and at home the minute we arrived. Roshani and Nishanka treated us like family members and made sure we were happy and well fed the whole time. We were surprised, that our booking included a lovely, homecooked breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday! Which made the price even more reasonable and absolutely fair! Roshani also showed us how to make egg hoppers with her family. The young couple build the eco lodge theirselves with a lot of love and patience. It was a beautiful experience to sleep in the middle of nature waking up with the lake right in front of your eyes. The tranquility of the place is one of a kind. If you are looking for an authentic time in a non touristic place, this is it! We would always love to come back! Very happy that we choose the eco lodge for our time in Udawalawe Thank you for everything <3

Notre séjour chez Nishanka et son mari a été une révélation de ce que le Sri Lanka a de meilleur à offrir. Nichée face à un lac pittoresque, leur maison en pierre authentique est un sanctuaire de tranquillité. Entourés par une faune exubérante, du chant des oiseaux aux visites occasionnelles d’éléphants, chaque jour était une aventure en soi. La gentillesse et l’attention de nos hôtes ont dépassé toutes nos attentes, offrant un service comparable à celui d’un hôtel de luxe tout en conservant une chaleur et une authenticité inégalées. Les repas, préparés avec soin et passion, étaient un festin pour les sens, nous faisant découvrir des saveurs uniques que nous n’avions rencontrées nulle part ailleurs durant notre périple. L’expérience du canoë sur le lac était magique, nous permettant d’observer la vie aviaire et de partager des moments de pêche avec les habitants. Cette immersion dans la nature, loin de l’agitation, était exactement ce dont nous avions besoin.
