Charming big house in an incredible location We spent a week-long family vacation in this house and really enjoyed it. The location directly at the lake was amazing. Although it is very remote, we hardly used the car as there are a lot of nice walks you can do from the house. Additionally, there is a jetty just two minutes walking distance from the house where a ferry to Keswick stops. The house is nice and very large. while the kitchen is very cosy, the furniture in the rest of the house is rather basic and not particularly charming or stylish. It's all about the location.
Brandlehow was an amazingly, beautiful place to stay. It's right on the shore of Derwent Water which made kayaking and swimming so easy and such a joy. We were there for a week and would have happily stayed longer! The home is very cozy, the beds are very comfortable and there's everything in the kitchen that you could need. An added surprise was the water boats dock. It's less than 5 minutes walk from the house, its very reasonably priced and stops at Keswick so no need to drive. We'd recommend a stay here to anyone!
The location of this house could not be better. Right on the shore of stunning Derwent Water. Unparalleled views and gorgeous walks literally on the doorstep. Despite being there in January the house was cosy and warm, and the facilities and appliances were excellent. We had a bit of an issue with flooding, as the lake burst it's banks and although there's no danger of flood coming as far as the house, the road was impassable and we had to wade to the car which we had to park up the hill. However this wouldn't be a problem at other times of the year.
We had an amazing time. The location is amazing and the views is breathtaking. The house located in the forest directly on the edge of the lake. Its very quiet place and private from around 6pm to 8am. In the morning you will see people walking around the lake or doing water activities. The taxi water boats stop only 5 minutes walk from the house. The boats can take you to Keswick and other stops. You can walk to Keswick it take around 1h and 25mins. The house seems as recently renovated, it has everything. However its need a deep cleaning. Its full of spider and insects. I highly recommend the location and if they deep clean the house i will come again.
