Write a book or read a book while you relax and recharge in a 3 bedroom log cabin. Originally built during the 1830s in Quebec then lovingly moved and rebuilt with all the modern comforts on the Salmon River. This cozy retreat features a large peaked upper floor, perfect for yoga or as a studio, plus a picturesque grove that invites peace and calming vibes. Ideally located for bike rides, canoe trips, and hikes. The cabin is a short drive to PEC, Kingston, Bon Echo or Frontenac Provincial Parks. You'll be greeted by the gentle smell of wood smoke and the feeling of time slowing down as you step into the cabin. The log section of the house - which includes the living room, dining room, loft and bedrooms - has been lovingly rebuilt and restored, and it feels like very little has changed in the intervening decades. The floors and walls are two-hundred-year-old wood panels over hand-hewn beams. The master bedroom is on the ground floor, with a comfy queen-sized bed. The two second-floor bedrooms are cozier, with double beds under the peaked roof. The sash windows from the second-floor loft over look the maple grove and the ones on the first floor, from the master bedroom and living room, look out onto the river. The foundation, bathroom and kitchen are much more recent, built in 2013. The kitchen, which has everything a cook could need, is built from barn boards and countertop salvaged from a mill on Amherst island. The bathroom, with a stainless steel shower stall, is contemporary - save for the east wall, which is the former exterior wall of the cabin. Curl up on the sofa and listen to the wind in the trees; in the morning watch the chipmunks, jays, and occasional deer amidst the flowers and ferns. Lunch in the garden; cocktails and croquet in the afternoon - or a book, or good conversation, in the shade, toes in the river with the brook trout. And, in the evening, get cozy by the campfire and listen to the river rushing past (in winter, spring, or fall) or babble by (in the summer) as the wood crackles and the sparks compete with the constellations - and, in July and August, the fireflies.
