We had a nice stay at Jane's place. We were on the top floor (up two levels) which would be a struggle for anyone with big suitcases, but we left ours in the car and just carried smaller bags inside. This worked well because, as you'd expect in a typical old English home like this, the room wasn't huge. Bathroom was nice and as our room overlooked the back yard, it was very quiet. It was nice to get breakfast provided the next morning nd we had a nice conversation with a fellow traveler during breakfast. I appreciate everyone has a different preference but the only thing which would have made us more comfortable would be a firmer bed. It was too soft for our liking. That aside, Jane is a good host and the stay was good value and well located.

Room 1 is much smaller that it appears in the photograph... so small that the ensuite door will not open fully and hits the bed. The room is next to the street and whilst the noise of the evening died more quickly than expected the square adjacent to the room seems to be a stopping place for early morning deliveries and traffic...this started at 4.30 on the night of our stay. The bed was clean but too soft for our liking and the en-suite very small. Rayrigg guest house is an attractive stone built property very close to the town centre. It is not a renovated property and the decor is a little tired.. It is clean within the restraints its age presents.. There is off street parking demanding some skill in maneuvering but welcome nontheless. Jane,s breakfast is good with an array of fruits, cereals, yogurt, with a hot menu all included. The price of £109 is cheap for the area and reflects the standard of accommodation... but not the breakfast which is similar to that in many much more expensive places... Graham Broewn

An absolutely amazing value stay. The location is incredibly convenient, right in the centre of Windermere town with immediate access to shops, bars and restaurants. The room was immaculate and the service was high quality- especially amazing was the ability to leave our bags on the day we checked out so that we didn’t have to carry them around with us prior to catching our train. Brilliant value for money, can’t recommend enough.
