It is in a quiet peaceful location adjacent to the caretaker’s lodge and is only ½ mile from the local pub and just over 100 yards from a letter box. An ideal touring base, this beautiful area abounds with stately homes steeped in history as well as walks and is easy for commuting to London as well as trips to France with Dover approximately 40 minutes’ drive. Ein sehr stilvolles, originelles Haus mit unglaublich viel Platz (wir waren dort zu viert). Den parkartigen Garten konnten wir aufgrund der Jahreszeit (Ende März) erwartungsgemäß nicht so intensiv nutzen - aber er ist sehr schön. Das Billardzimmer war für uns der Clou, im Sommer ist sicherlich auch der Pool hervorragend. Die Lage des Hauses ist sehr ländlich, dennoch kann man praktisch alle Sehenswürdigkeiten in 30 - 60 Minuten erreichen. Die Schlüsselübergabe erfolgt durch die Nachbarn, die auch sonst für alle Fragen gerne zur Verfügung stehen - alles sehr nett und persönlich. Insgesamt haben wir uns in The Sanctuary rundum wohlgefühlt und können diese Unterkunft uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen.
This place has a number of huge pros: the gardens are more like ‘grounds’ than gardens. They are enormous. The pool was one of the warmest I’ve been in, which was fantastic for the family because you could happily swim each day, even if the weather was cool. This makes a big difference. The place has lots of character. The windows, the doors, the staircase, all amazing. The only con was that certain bits could be maintained a little better, but given the original features of the place I think that’s probably easier said than done. Overall, really lovely place, lots of character, great location to explore Kent.
Tony was a great host! We used our time to have a hackathon and he was very accommodating through our the whole stay. Will definitely stay again and would recommend for anyone else.
Still can't believe we were able to stay in such an incredible property for such an affordable price. Jaw dropping Tudor revival black and white timbered house with an amazing history and gorgeous wood panels, parquet floors and roaring open fire (plus central heating!). Extensive grounds with magnificent mature trees were great to explore and include outdoor swimming pool and games room. The snooker table was a real treat and appreciated the supplied pool ball set. Unfortunately the weather wasn't good enough for us to use the pool but it looked very well maintained and would have loved to try it out. Well equipped kitchen and laundry was appreciated including dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. Our hosts were super friendly and ensured we were comfortable, also loved making a fuss of their cute sausage dogs. We'd happily stay again.
Ein altes Haus in einem wunderschönen Park mit tollem beheizten Pool. Es ist als wenn man für die Zeit in einem Museum wohnt und in einer anderen Zeit, einfach toll, wenn man sich darauf einlässt. Das Haus hat Charm, wir mochten es wirklich gerne! Ein ganz besonderes Erlebnis.
