Located in the village of Fornham St. Martin, approx. 4 miles from the market town of Bury St. Edmunds, The Lark is a modern first floor apartment and a great place to relax in peaceful surroundings. The spacious balcony has far-reaching views across the Lark valley and adjoining golf course. There are plenty of footpaths accessible from the property and the local village pub is only a 10 minute walk away. The Lark apartment provides an ideal base from which to explore all parts of East Anglia. The Lark is a modern first floor apartment situated at the end of a quiet residential cul-de-sac in the village of Fornham St. Martin. It is in a very peaceful setting, overlooking garden and wooded area to the side and enjoying south-westerly views across the adjoining All Saints golf course and River Lark to the rear. While attached to the host's own home, the apartment has its own entrance, with a designated parking space on the driveway immediately outside. Guests are able to self check-in/out using the key safe. Within the entrance lobby there are coat hooks, a shoe rack and space for general storage. Stairs lead to the spacious open plan kitchen, living /dining area as well as the bedroom and shower rooms. On entering the door at the top of the stairs, the focus is immediately drawn towards the far end of the room and the feature doors opening onto the covered balcony. Here, guests can use the bistro set and chairs to relax, dine and enjoy the picturesque views across the golf course and the River Lark. The beautiful views can also be enjoyed from the comfort of the living/dining area, with sofa, accent chair, side table, 42" Sony TV, drop-leaf dining table and chairs. There are books, games and OS maps available on the shelving unit which guests are welcome to use. The modern fully fitted kitchen is at the opposite end of the room, with Neff cooking appliances (oven, microwave and induction hob), sink, fridge and dishwasher in a user-friendly U-shape. There is plenty of kitchenware, crockery, cutlery etc. in drawers and cupboards below with the freezer and additional storage cupboards on the other side of the hob island. The Bosch washing machine is housed separately in a laundry cupboard at the top of the stairs, with iron, ironing board and clothes airer stored in a cupboard off the kitchen. Washing powder and fabric conditioner are provided. Other essential kitchen items such as washing up liquid, paper towels, tea towels, foil, clingfilm are also provided. The bright and airy bedroom, accessed from the kitchen area, has a wood panelled vaulted ceiling with a velux window to the front and dormer window to the rear. There is a king size Hypnos bed (pillow-top Celestial mattress ) with a bedside table and hanging rail on either side of the bed. The furnishings are completed by a large set of storage drawers, dressing table/desk with chair, full length mirror and Charles Eames style rocking chair. The ensuite, leading off from the bedroom, has shower, sink with backlit mirror, shaver socket, W.C. and plenty of space for toiletries and towels. Opposite the kitchen, there is a second good sized shower room/W.C. with shaver socket and small wall mirror over the sink. Bed linen, towels, hair dryer and basic toiletries are supplied. Face cloths not supplied. The Lark has gas central heating/hot water. There is free wi-fi. Streaming services are available through the Smart TV. Flooring - there are porcelain tiles in the kitchen, living, dining and balcony areas, with carpets on the stairs and in the bedroom. A cot, cot sheet and high chair are all available on request. Attractive lighting throughout the apartment complements the stylish decor and comfortable furnishings to provide a warm, welcoming homely feel.
Sue was the perfect host. Very responsive and couldn’t have done more to help us. Her place was incredibly kitted out - felt just like a home from home. We had a very comfortable stay and would definitely come back. Do not hesitate to book this lovely place and fantastic host.

Fornham St. Martin is a tranquil village located in the picturesque countryside of Suffolk. The accommodation itself is situated at the end of a cul-de-sac in a quiet residential area of the village. From the property, guests can access numerous footpaths to explore the village and immediate area, including The Lark Valley Path, a 13 mile waymarked walk between Mildenhall and Bury St Edmunds.
The local pub and Folk Cafe are both within walking distance with another pub, cafe and pizzeria in the adjacent village of Fornham All Saints.
The neighbouring hotel and golf club is open to non-residents. It offers a cafe, restaurant and bar, as well as day memberships for the gym and swim facilities. Golf is available as pay and play, and there is an e-bike hire centre here too.
While Fornham St. Martin is a small peaceful village, it is not far from essential amenities. The historic town of Bury St. Edmunds with its rich history, stunning cathedral, architecture and vibrant culture is about 4 miles away, and offers a range of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and other attractions. Driving into the town is straightforward and there are plenty of car parks, all of which provide easy pedestrian access to the town centre. There is also a half hourly bus service between the village and Bury St Edmunds (not evenings); timetable details are available in the apartment. There is a bustling market in the centre of town every Wednesday and Saturday.
For outdoor enthusiasts, nearby Thetford Forest offers plenty of opportunities for cycling and walking. The High Lodge Centre in Thetford Forest, 30 mins drive, has a restaurant, picnic areas, archery and bike hire as well as walking and cycling trails. There is a high ropes course with treetop obstacles and zip lines at 'Go Ape' in Thetford, about 30 minutes drive.
For history lovers, the reconstructed Anglo-Saxon Village at West Stow is only a 10 minute drive away and the beautiful National Trust property of Ickworh House and Park is close by.
Fornham St. Martin is well connected and provides easy access, not just to Bury St. Edmunds, but to other towns and cities in East Anglia such as Norwich (1 hour drive), Cambridge (45 minute drive), Sudbury (45 minutes) and Colchester (1 hour drive), with all their diverse historical and culture attractions.
It is an hour's drive to the picturesque Norfolk Broads, and the stunning coastal attractions of Suffolk and North Norfolk are all available as a day visit.
