The Franklin is a Victorian home built in 1904 just two blocks from the most gorgeous courthouse and square in La Grange, Texas. The Franklin is a perfect home away from home during Round Top Antiques Week, a charming studio space for creatives and also the perfect place to get away for a little soul care. Fayette County is home to the painted churches, state parks, all kinds of small town diners & restaurants plus shopping to your heart's content. The Franklin was originally owned by the first doctor in La Grange. While sitting on the large front porch, you’ll see the first library (The Judge Stiehl House built in 1852) and the famously restored, Casino Hall (built in 1881). The Franklin is just blocks from the most beautiful county courthouse (circa 1891) and town square dotted with boutiques, coffee houses and bakeries. While strolling downtown, visit the Quilt Museum and old railroad depot. * Inside you'll find 3 ample bedrooms: The Bookshelf Room with a king bed. The Chandelier Room with a king bed. The Pink Porch with two daybeds. The first bath, with antique soaking tub, is directly off the family room. The second bath, with large standing shower, is off the hall beside an enormous utility room which is the perfect spot for storing those treasures you find at Round Top. The kitchen is home to a lovingly restored vintage Chambers Stove. You'll also find a Parisian ice cream parlor table & chairs set and full sized fridge. While there is no dishwasher, we always supply the loveliest dish soap and cotton tea towels. The dining room offers a place for six to gather and enjoy a meal under a large chandelier. There are two living spaces, one with glorious natural lighting and an original stain-glass window. Look for the blue light streaming in around happy hour. Pure delight. The large front porch is a wonderful place to sit and sip coffee. And the front steps are the best place to snap a cute picture of you and your people loving life. Added bonus: If you're at The Franklin during Antique Week - we offer access to locked storage in the garage for your larger treasures. * 🚂 Please note, a working train goes through the heart of downtown La Grange, Texas. We are unable to know in advance if and when the train will travel through so we provide fans, earplugs and noise makers for the possibility of night trains.
