A half flight of stairs takes you to a fully fitted kitchen which includes a gas hob and an electric oven, microwave, dishwasher and fridge freezer amongst other things and on the other side of the half landing fully fitted bathroom with a bath and shower over. A further half flight of stairs, takes you to the bedrooms which offer you a double bedroom with fitted wardrobe and dressing table area and a twin bedroom with a fitted wardrobe. Recently built to full residential standard, each cottage offers exceptionally comfortable modern accommodation. The cottages are built on a hillside and set in several acres of secluded gardens which have pedestrian access to the town centre. Full gas central heating and double glazed throughout. On site parking means you can leave your car behind and walk to town to enjoy the many amenities and facilities to be found on your doorstep. These include proprietor owned shops, a supermarket and a range of pubs , cafes and restaurants - there are some sample menus in the cottage. Visitor attractions include a 12 century abbey, Mary Queen of Scots house and the Castle Jail. There is a Gateway Visitor Centre for information of what to see and do in this enchanting area of Scotland. On summer evenings there are historic walks around the town and the guide will describe the historic importance of many of the buildings to be found in the conservation town centre and give you an idea of the turbulent history of the area. The properties may not be suitable for people with walking difficulties due to the number of steps but the proprietors live on-site and can assist.
