Great location with lots to do nearby! The weather wasn't great while we were there but the views were worth it and Historic Smithville was a lot of fun to visit! The place itself was also very clean and the perfect amount of space for a weekend getaway.

Location, location, location! You cannot beat this place as a unique location. Truly in a wildlife refuge, the views and birds make it feel like paradise. I could have lived on the dock. Don't miss sunset- it is magical. The place itself is quite nice, very clean, and user-friendly. The bed was comfy, the sheets soft, and there were enough drawers. It is important to note that if you are planning to cook, you will need to bring all oil and salt and such with you- the kitchen has no basics like that. If your looking for a luxury experience- this isn't the place for you, but if you are looking for calm beyond calm- stay here. One of the best things is that it is truly lovely and idyllic, but you can get to civilization in less than 10 minutes. I enjoyed happy hour at the Smithville Inn tavern and a meal at the restaurant just down the street. I had a hard time driving away this morning and am already thinking of when I can go back.

We loved this place! Billie was quick to respond to all messages and gave detailed instructions for check-in and check-out. We didn’t see another soul the entire time we were there. It’s extremely quiet and peaceful. The view of the salt marsh is stunning, as are the sunsets. We spent the majority of our time sitting on the dock. There is a restaurant within walking distance, but it wasn’t open for the season yet, so we cooked in the cottage. We made shrimp for dinner and eggs for breakfast on the non-stick hot plate. It worked great. There is also a toaster, coffee maker, microwave, crockpot, and charcoal grill outside. The kitchen had everything needed to make a simple meal, but you’ll need to bring salt, pepper, spices, paper towels, and perhaps coffee. There is a Shop-Rite about 5 miles away, and Instacart will even deliver groceries if you don’t want to leave. It's all about the view and the dock. It's stunning - we cannot wait to visit again.

Billie’s place was perfect for my wife, toddler, and I to visit family nearby. It was easy to check in, find what we needed, and the views were beautiful. Lovely getaway.
