Welcome to our little slice of heaven in my favorite area of the Allegheny National Forest (ANF). If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway in the forest, Hearts Content is your spot! Outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds are welcome! Whether it be hiking, orienteering, mountain biking, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, or cross country skiing, you can do it all from this location! During the winter, you will need AWD or 4WD as the cabin is located on a private lane not maintained by the township. Dogs are welcome! Max of two dogs per stay. There is an up charge cleaning fee of $50. We do not allow cats at this time. Note: There is little to no cell service, depending on your carrier. You will need to turn on your wi-fi calling, as there is no landline.
We loved our stay at Leslie’s cabin! The location is beautiful, and very close to great hiking trails. Leslie was responsive and very accommodating.
Leslie was a great host, and very responsive. The cabin is situated in a peaceful part of the woods, and is very private. It was extremely clean, and well equipped with everything we needed. We enjoyed a night by the fire pit, with delicious banana boats that our daughter and granddaughter made and cooked in the fire. We would definitely consider staying at this cabin again in the future.
Excellent cabin and perfect location. Leslie is very responsive to any and all questions.
I rented this place so I could take my family on the Titusville/Oil City train ride with Santa. My family and my mom loved the place. Clean, well decorated and in a peaceful location. WiFi was a bit glitchy for the kids but you are in the mountains so I would expected that. I wish it didn’t rain the whole time so we could have used the fire pit outside. My sone would have fished the little pond all day if he had his rod. Host is very responsive and kind.
To do in Hearts Content:
The Tanbark Trail is a 6.9 mile out-and-back trail. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 3 hours to complete. This is a popular trail for birding, hiking, and mountain biking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
The Interpretive Old Growth Trail starts at the north end of the east side parking lot and winds about one mile through this timber stand before returning to the picnic area. All facilities in the day use area are universally accessible to people with disabilities. Facilities include a picnic area, pavilions, toilet, and interpretive materials.
Cross-country Ski Trail is a 6.4 mile trail that utilizes old railroad grades, roads and existing trails to form several loops for those that enjoy winter activities.
Hickory Creek Wilderness – The trailhead currently starts near the grassy parking area at the west side parking area near the pine plantation. This trailhead is scheduled to be moved to provide a setting more appropriate to a Wilderness experience. This 8,663-acre area is replete with solitude, serenity, and wildlife; no motorized equipment of any kind is permitted. A 11-mile loop hiking trail weaves its way through the rolling terrain, climbing in and out of the valleys.
Orienteering Course – is a self-guided course that allows you or your group to follow, at your leisure. It is a permanently marked route as an introduction to the sport of orienteering.
Our cabin is also only 18 miles from Chapmans Dam or 24 miles to Kinzua Dam for boating or more hiking and biking!
If you’re looking to dine out, but still stay nestled in the woods, Forester Restaurant is only 12.6 miles away via Hearts Content Rd, Pleasant Dr and Lenhart Rd. Ribs n’ Bones is another great option 20 miles over the hills and through the woods.
The historic City of Warren is only 16 miles away and has two breweries. Bent Run and Wicked Warren, both known for delicious food, in addition to their craft beer. The Plaza offers authentic Greek food and is a local favorite. Cornerstone Lounge is your place, if wings are your thing. The Old Grand Dads can’t be beat!! There are several other restaurants in the area as well.
Bent Run happens to be located between two outdoor stores: Allegheny Outfitters and Penn Wild Outdoors. Allegheny Outfitters offers high quality gear for camping, paddling, climbing and backpacking. They also offer canoe and kayak rentals and will even transport them for you. A little farther north of Warren, you can find Tall Tales Sporting Goods, a one stop shop for hunting gear, firearms, archery and ammunition.
