Relax at Philham Parlour, a beautiful detached converted barn, well appointed & offering spacious 5* accommodation. A secure private courtyard garden with outdoor seating & access to a large paddock. Ample parking & pets welcome. Situated in a small hamlet, overlooking rolling countryside just 9 min drive to historic Hartland Quay & 4min drive/ 25min walk to Hartland Village which boasts shops, a cafe & 3 pubs all of which offer great menus. Close to spectacular beaches, walks & coastal path. The Parlour offers secure outside space for children and pets. Inside, the kitchen, diner and lounge are all one big open space, great for families and multi-generational visits. There is a large hall which hosts a multi-functional sports table and plenty of games in the cupboard. Upstairs the rooms are large and airy.

We loved staying in this comfortable and attractive house. The rooms are more spacious than we were expecting and were all very clean. Although the meals we had out in the Hart in Hartland were excellent, we mostly ate in, and the kitchen was well equipped for that. The Parlour was was a useful base for walking along the South West Coast Path from Westward Ho! to Crackington Haven, using two cars to get to and from our daily walks.
Kristin & Petes place is the perfect getaway. The location was beautiful, quiet and private with the Hartland Coast as short as a 10 min drive. The house is spacious, clean with great amenities. Kristin was responsive and Pete was very helpful and friendly upon check in with local suggestions. We will definitely visit again. Thank you
Kris and Pete place is a gem. We enjoyed the large rooms and kitchen as much as we enjoyed the private garden and BBQ. The surroundings are just beautiful as the Barn is immersed in the amazing Devon countryside. Kris is a very kind host and she was always available if we needed anything. We loved every moment we spent at Kris' place and we really do hope to be back soon!
Couldn't have asked for more. The accommodation had everything we needed during our stay. Hosts came to check on arrival if everything was ok and to give advice on beaches etc. A short drive to lovely walks along the coast. We visited Clovelly, hartland quay and Black church Rock (wear walking boots).The anchor inn fitted a group of 7 of us in last minute and food was very good. A perfect accommodation for a large group, three bedrooms, all with on suits. Extras that made it special were cream tea and an added gluten and lactose free cake, a small games table and an outdoor table tennis game. A very enjoyable stay.
We had a fantastic weekend with friends. Sharing space with friends can often be tricky as you all have your own ways of doing things etc but The Parlour allowed flexible accommodation, with ample space for everyone. The kitchen was beautifully equipped - so much so we cooked in twice including full roast dinner. Comfortable beds, and lovely en-suites. Quiet location with short drive to everywhere we wanted to go. Perfect. We are keen to return - we ordinarily like to try somewhere new as there are so many choices out there but we would be most content to come back either with our family or our friends again. Philham is a hamlet of 11 houses situated south of Hartland Town. A 5 min drive from the Atlantic Way (A39) taking you straight into country lanes. The hamlet is home to a couple of farms, three holiday properties and the rest residents.
On a small loop road, Great Philham House sits at the head of the loop looking out onto rolling countryside. Traffic consists of farmers, neighbours, school bus, a farm dog, sheep and the occasional lost traveller / explorer.
This is a rural area but only 1.2 miles from Hartland Town. Walk or cycle to the rugged coastline or around the peaceful countryside. Some narrow lanes with single passing places. Buses are available from Hartland to Bideford or Bude. Parking at Hartland Quay is charged during the summer period, National Trust for some of the local beaches (Sandymouth, Welcombe, Duckpool) charged or free to memebers.
