It’s a wonderful place if you are tired of the touristic places and city hustle, full connection with the nature, amazing experience! The hosts were wonderful!
The setting is very beautiful and remote, very far up the beautiful river! This is what I appreciated about the place the most. However, when I got there, they tried to give me a much smaller casita/hut than I paid for. When I questioned this, they prepared the nicer casita from the photos but acted like they were all the same, which was not the case. Another issue happened when I checked out. The lady tried to charge me almost $100 pesos extra for food at their restaurant. 2s and 3s were changed to 5s on the bill. So, if you are not paying attention, you will probably pay more. The food was okay, but incredibly overpriced. She also charged me an extra $200 pesos for use of the kitchen, which I thought was free, especially considering that the jungle huts are very overpriced for a very primitive and basic room. All in all, the location, animals, and wildlife make this a great place! Just be careful with your money and look over the bill carefully.
Wonderful riverside location above the river! We loved exploring the area, hiking the trails to the waterfalls and dipping into the pool just below the horse pen! The cute, little, old-fashioned palapa is more suitable for one person than two since the double bed had a mosquito net around it. We friendly hostess is also a good cook in the attached restaurant. There is a kitchen hygiene issue due to flies that could be resolved with fly tapes. Piping water into the kitchen & having a sink or two in the kitchen would help too. Until the water filtration system is improved or the owners choose to buy the large sealed bottled water bottles, we recommend bringing your own water. TIP to avoid insects in your palapa at night: be sure to keep the light off when you are in the palapa after dark. The first night we left the light on while reading in bed for hours. To our surprise, the light in our palapa attracted a fascinating variety of insects, including several curious spiders.
