The apartment met the description and the needs of our family (with two high school boys). We were warmly welcomed and felt very comfortable, the host responds quickly and is very friendly and attentive. The property is located in a lively area of Paris and several metro stations are a short walk away. The area can be a bit noisy at night but we felt safe. We can recommend Etienne's apartment to anyone who wants to explore Paris.
We enjoyed staying in this lovely apartment, an easy walk to Metro lines and RER, a very multicultural area. A very good coffee machine, and the Fromagerie in the same street is highly recommended.
We loved staying at Barbine’s gorgeous apartment. Everything was newly renovated, beautiful bathroom and kitchen equipped with everything we needed. We loved the midcentury modern design of the apartment with a brand-new smart screen TV. It’s a very diverse neighbourhood and we love seeing this side of Paris. It’s very close to the African markets and Little India. It’s so close to the Metro and bus stops and really easy to get around anywhere you want to go in Paris. Really close to Sacré-Cœur and the Moulin Rouge in Pigalle - just one or two stops. Barbine was always response to any questions we had. Would definitely recommend!
LA CHAPELLE a 5-minute walk from Montmartre
In the south of the 18th arrondissement, the Goutte d'or district forms a rectangle between boulevard de la Chapelle, boulevard Barbès, rue Ordener and the Gare du Nord railway tracks. This lively, cosmopolitan neighborhood is slowly transforming over time, while retaining its popular atmosphere.
The ethnic diversity that characterizes Goutte d'Or, along with bargain-basement department stores such as Tati, have made the area a popular commercial thoroughfare. Crowds flock here in search of exotic delicacies that are hard to find elsewhere in Paris: products straight from Africa are sold here in numerous wholesale and retail outlets. The Dejean market (near the Château Rouge metro station) and the Barbès market (located on Wednesday and Saturday mornings under the overhead metro on the boulevards Rochechouart and de la Chapelle) are brimming with jewelry and fabrics, as well as fish, meat, spices and condiments that smell of Africa and North Africa.
In the center of the district, rue Doudeauville is one of the most lively shopping streets, open late into the evening. If you want to sample dishes from Cameroon, Senegal, Zaire... the Goutte d'Or is the place to go! The area abounds in small, typical restaurants at very affordable prices.
ICE KUBE HOTEL
ou have to go deep into the 18th arrondissement to discover this well-hidden oasis a stone's throw from La Chapelle. In a quiet side street, a large black gate faces us. Step inside and you're out of Paris in an instant. A pretty landscaped courtyard and a glass cube as a reception area welcome us. But it's as soon as you step inside that the change of scenery begins. The restaurant-bar room Après is overrun by dense, welcoming vegetation. We've left the city and landed in the jungle. The abundant plants accompany us on a journey we won't soon forget. Here, every detail has been thought through to create a cosy atmosphere. One floor up, we discover a most unusual bar. Paris's first "Ice Bar" is located here. Put on a down jacket and enjoy shots of vodka at -40°! Surrounded by some 20 tonnes of ice - the bar, the walls and even the glasses are made of ice - we continue our journey.
