Unique “glamping” experience staying in a traditional coastal palapa an hour’s boat ride south of puerto Vallarta. We took a private water taxi from Playa Los Muertos for 7000 Mexican pesos return (about $700 Cdn). It’s a bit cheaper to go from Boca de Tomaltan. We enjoyed the palapa setting immensely - ocean views, flocks of pelicans. It’s at the top of a long flight of stairs off the beach that takes five minutes to get up. The palapa needs a bit of attention - the fridge isn’t working; the kitchen drain was blocked on arrival. However, we managed fine with the cooler provided and washed dishes in a large pot. There were a few insects at dusk, but at no other times. There is a flush toilet and hot shower. We walked to Chimo for lunch one day, 40 minutes one way. The seas were too high to get picked up the day we checked out; had to rent a mule to meet our water taxi in Chimo instead but this is a rare occurrence. We enjoyed ourselves but bring lots of pesos for extra expenses

Muchísimas gracias a Daniel Un tema solo de el traslado hay que considerar que lleva algo de tiempo trasladarse de el boca a playa los Chonchos y genera un costo extra de 3k adicionales y en el viaje si es posible apresurarse a abordar el water taxi por que se llena muchísimo al menos fue en Semana Santa pero dentro de lo que cabe la estancia es perfecta para desconectarse de la ciudad y disfrutar de un lugar con vistas perfectas, estancia maravillosa y si es recomendable llevarse todo lo que cada uno vaya a utilizar, josephat súper atento al recibirnos, estamos muy agradecidos. Claro que volveremos

You are in an eagle's nest with a bird's eye view of the ocean with its whales and dolphins. Birds are easier to see and appreciate as you are on top of the trees. The casa is comfortable with plenty of seating arrangement and cushions. You have privacy in every way. The kitchen is properly equipped, the lighting was perfected with the use of our flashlight. As most casitas in Los Chonchos, it is rustic in some ways but Casa Sarah is confortable in all ways. This was our first time at Casa Sarah and our third in Los Chonchos.

We have been visiting Los Chonchos since 2017 and have stayed in a number of Palapa, this is our first stay at Casa Sarah. This is possibly one of the best Palapa here. As the house is part way up the mountain, the views are stunning, you can see the whole bay, and if your there for the whales they’re easy to spot from here. Also there is a seclusion you don’t get with the other properties, which makes this perfect for a very private getaway. If you love bird life, there is so much more up in this palapa than in any down on the beach, and a handy bird watching crib sheet to help you recognise them all. The water is hot, the beds are comfortable and there is plenty of clean outdoor furniture which is in great condition. If I were to make one recommendation it would be that it needs more pans for those of us who love to cook. Don’t be dissuaded by the steps, the climb is absolutely worth it. Overall I would highly recommend this accommodation and Daniel is a delight to deal with.
