Chimo · 整套民居 · 2室0床1.0卫 · 可住5人 · Casa Gracie: Ocean & Mountain Panorama Bliss!
If you are looking for an authentic Mexican experience, outside the crowded, touristy & partying vibe of Puerto Vallarta or far from the beach vendors of Yelapa, look no further than Casa Gracie. Only steps from the beach, enjoy your own stunning home; perched above the fishing village of Chimo for majestic mountain & Pacific Ocean views. Come marvel at God's handiwork, where you can listen to the sound of the sea, watch humpback whales or take in the natural beauty of the surrounding mountains. Casa Gracie is one of two houses on the property called Dos Hermanos. The houses are ideally situated to maximize privacy and are separated by a beautiful, shared garden area for additional privacy. The other house, Casa Bendita, can be rented at an additional cost and has the same floorplan as Casa Gracie. See airbnb.com/h/doshermanos-casabendita for more details and availability. Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Sierra Madre mountain range and village of Chimo, Casa Gracie is only separated by 150 steps from a secluded sandy beach. If secluded sandy beaches aren't your thing, you'll be perfectly content at Casa Gracie by simply enjoying the beautiful garden and the house's sweeping views of the ocean and natural landscape. Casa Gracie blends modern amenities (including Elon Musk's high-speed Starlink internet service) with rustic charm. The casa features spacious living space, with stacking glass paneled doors that fill the space with natural light and sound. Enjoy the vistas even while cooking from your own fully equipped kitchen. The views continue to the master bedroom and each bedroom at Casa Gracie is equipped with air conditioning and a king-sized bed. As you fall asleep at night or in the sway of your hammock during a lazy afternoon siesta, you will be lulled to sleep by the sound of the ocean. Casa Gracie is situated above Chimo, which is located in the Cabo Corrientes region of Jalisco, Mexico on the Bay of Banderas. The region is serviced via the Puerto Vallarta International Airport. On clear nights, you will see the lights of Puerto Vallarta and Punta Mita across the bay from Chimo. Unlike Pizota, Quimixto, Yelapa and the Los Chonchos Eco Preserve, Chimo can be accessed by car, taxi or Uber from Puerto Vallarta via the village of El Tuito. Chimo is also accessible by boat, which we can help arrange. Chimo and the area boasts excellent fishing, hiking, beaches, and waterfalls. The village is small and quiet, so if you're looking for highrise resorts or nightlife, you won't find any in Chimo. Chimo only has a few hundred residents and has minimal services. The village of Chimo (less than a five minute walk from Casa Gracie) offers some dining options; albeit limited. Currently, Chimo has two beach side restaurants that primarily serves mariscos (seafood); although, an occasional hamburger may be had if you ask the waiter. If seafood isn't your craving, a taco stand is usually set up one block off the beach, on a dirt road, in front of Lety's small store. It's a bit of a hit or miss, but tacos are typically available Thursday - Sunday evenings sometime after 6 or 7 o'clock. We recommend tacos al pastor on Saturday nights and carnitas on Sunday mornings. In addition to the taco stand, on most Thursday - Sunday evenings, a local cocinera will set out tables in front of her casa for a pop-up restaurant of sorts. We recommend her shrimp tacos with an iced cold, glass bottle of Coca-Cola. If none of these choices are appealing to you, a local cook can be arranged who will come prepare food for you at Casa Gracie. If you prefer to do your own cooking, use fresh local produce. On Tuesday mornings, watch and listen for the produce truck that arrives each week in Chimo. You will hear the driver announce their arrival via their speaker system. Chimo also has three small 'corner' stores (hours vary) for basic grocery items, frozen meats and snacks. While liquor and wine options are limited, ask anyone locally, and they can direct you to where you can buy Raicilla. Raicilla is a moonshine made locally in the mountains that tastes similar to Mezcal, with its smokey undertones. Chimo has a beer store, selling your typical varieties of Mexican beers. Across from Yolis's beer store is the casa of a local fisherman who will gladly sell you fresh fish, octopus or lobster when available. His wife also sells ice cream. Any local fisherman will sell you their fresh caught fish ... you just need to ask a fisherman on the beach in the morning. Just search for Dos Hermanos in Chimo and select 'chat'. P.S. One last important point about Chimo and Dos Hermanos we would like to highlight... If you are a jet boat "always-on-the-go" type of traveler, you might be disappointed. Dos Hermanos and Chimo have more of a pontoon boat vibe. There are no ziplines, jet skis, para sails, take-a-picture-with-an-iguana vendors, beachchair towel games, or night clubs. Chimo is the place one goes to avoid the hustle and bustle of life and to slow down. Bring a book.
El lugar es increíble, es mejor que en fotos y la atención y la comunicación de Eric And Holly es muy buena siempre estuvieron al pendiente de si necesitábamos algo , sin duda regreso .
This was the authentic Mexican experience, off the beaten path. We really don’t want to brag about this this place and Chimo in general because we’ve seen too many places like this become touristy when discovered. Lovely and comfortable house with amazing views. The other hermano, Marc and his wife Michelle were staying in their home next door. We were so glad that they were there as they introduced us to captain Chayo for fishing (caught 26 fish, his wife Maria cooked us up a delicious dinner of ceviche and grilled fish ), and for a local excursion to Yelapa. We were also thrilled to attend a fiesta with them as well. We enjoyed our stay very much, and highly recommend casa Gracie if a quiet, low key Mexican experience is what you’re hoping for.
Casa Gracie was absolutely breathtaking. The views were incredible and the house itself very comfortable and well equipped. Mark and Michelle were very welcoming and had great recommendations for us. Don't miss the once-a-week street tacos and the produce truck! The property caretaker, Fredy, was very kind and considerate (and patient with our limited Spanish). We are already planning our return.
Eric and Holly’s place was amazing! It’s always a little adventure getting to this area of Mexico but Eric had all the tips/tricks and contacts. Their place is a little slice of heaven…
Casa Gracie was a very beautiful house and area to explore. We enjoyed walking to town and meeting the locals. We hiked to a gorgeous waterfall nearby Casa Gracie where we went swimming. We hiked down to the local beach and did some swimming. The view from Casa Gracie was breathtaking. We watched a mama whale and two babies jumping in the ocean off the house deck. Holly and Eric were excellent hosts and very responsive to all our questions. We would highly recommend renting Casa Gracie. It was very clean with beautiful gardens and excellent food. The fully stocked kitchen was a lovely amenity.

***IMPORTANT NOTICE
As of March/2024, we have been advised that the water taxi service from Boca de Tomatlan to Chimo is more regular again (making one trip a day). If the water taxi is part of your plan for Chimo, it's still a good idea to have a back up plan for transport. We can help you arrange for a private boat, and we will update here if the water taxi service resumes consistently. ***
Finding Chimo by Boat:
The cheapest option, but not always the best is the Nayeli Water Taxi. The Nayeli Water Taxi departs Boca de Tomatlan for Chimo at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Allow 45-60 minutes to travel approximately 16 nautical miles to Chimo by way of the water taxi.
While it's the cheapest option, we can't always rely on the water taxi. Some days they just decide not to go to Chimo, which isn't convenient for people trying to plan a vacation. That is why we recommend taking a private boat if your plan is to arrive by water. The trip in the private boat will take less time than both the water taxi or an Uber.
If you still wish to try using the water taxi after reading the above, please contact us the day prior, and we can try and find out from the locals whether or not the water taxi is planning a trip to Chimo the next day or not, but be prepared for a backup option of private boat or car.
As mentioned, both a private boat and the water taxi leaves from Boca de Tomatlan. From the Puerto Vallarta airport, take a car the 26 kilometers or 16 miles to the Boca de Tomatlan Marina. Allow 30-45 minutes from the airport to the marina.
Finding Chimo by Car, Taxi or Uber:
Like the private boat, arriving by car is also a good option. We recommend an Uber for its easy-to-use app in helping locate a driver.
Allow 2.5 hours to travel from the airport to Casa Gracie at Dos Hermanos by car. While the road is only 104 kilometers or 65 miles, the trip takes time as the road winds through several small villages and beautiful mountainous terrain. Only about 12 kilometers of the 104 kilometer trip is a dirt road.
We had a guest who enjoyed their stay, but advised against an Uber. Their issue was mainly due to traveling at night and the Uber driver's inexperience with the road. The fare costs more at night as well. Therefore, we HIGHLY advise driving during the daylight hours; mainly because it is safer for a driver not familiar with the mountainous, curvy, challenging terrain. That is why when we arrive on a later flight into PVR, we prefer to spend the first night in Puerto Vallarta and head to Chimo the next morning.
