Thrapston · 整套民居 · 6室9床4.5卫 · 可住16人 · Large Georgian 6 bedroom house with games room
Perfect for a large family or several families, everyone will be comfortable in this spacious and unique space. The house has six large bedrooms, 3 with their own bathrooms, 2 reception rooms, a large barn with pool table, bar, dartboard and a gym. There is a wonderful outside area with a large 8 seater table as well as a social sofa area and an additional 8 seater table. The Garden View bedroom is wheelchair accessible with an adjoining wet room, both of these have electric doors. The bed set up is as follows: on the top floor of the house we have two double bedrooms as well as a large open space with a king size bed. This can also bed made into two single beds. On the middle floor, we have the master bedroom with a king size bed and en-suite and a second bedroom with a king sized bed and two single beds. All of the rooms mentioned above would fit an additional travel cot or the single z-bed that we can offer. We also have a further double bedroom with an en-suite. On the lower floor we have our Garden View bedroom with a king size bed, in which would fit a travel cot.
Lucy’s place was incredible. It was even better than the photos! The perfect weekend away with all the amenities needed for a big group. The house is very spacious and comfortable. We loved our stay, thank you.
This interesting property served our purpose of a family gathering comprising eight adults and eight grandchildren (19 - 7 years) very well. The barn was particularly well used. The provisions outside were appreciated. However, we were disappointed that the boiler and Aga malfunctioned. We coped without the Aga. The boiler malfunction was inconvenient and we constantly needed to reset it to enable hot water and heating.
Stayed at Lucy's again after staying last year with some friends, such a lovely place to stay!
We had a nice stay at Lucy’s house. There was plenty of space and the garden was lovely and big. The kitchen is well kitted out for cooking. The barn is a great plus point as well. There were a few things that prevented us from rating the property as five stars (e.g. the boiler was not functioning correctly during our stay - which I know Lucy has said will be resolved - the lock on the downstairs bathroom was broken and one of the beds was on the landing rather than in a “living room” as shown on the listing meaning no privacy as it was a walk through to two other bedrooms). Overall, I would still recommend the house to large groups and think the price is a fair reflection of the house.
Thrapston was recently voted as the most popular place to live in Northamptonshire, with its bustling community and plenty of great schools on the doorstep, plus the commute to Cambridge is easy with good road links. Set beside the River Nene and surrounded by rolling fields with pretty stone cottages, smart Georgian buildings and gentle charm.
Thrapston has been a market town since it was given a charter in 1205, something which is celebrated every year with a fair in the town centre. But there are signs of settlements there that date back from the Iron Age. One of the characteristics that gave Thrapston the top spot was its beautiful buildings, and Chancery Lane has a number of 17th and 18th century buildings along it, making it probably the oldest part of the town.
The town's access to the River Nene is another selling point and has historically served to be imperative in the trade of the town, transporting goods between Peterborough and Northampton.
In terms of famous residents, the town was host to Sir John Washington, a relative of George Washington is believed to have lived in Chancery Lane and is buried in the Parish Church of St James in the town.
We live a few minutes walk from the high street which has wonderful shops, cafes and pubs. We are also very close to some lovely, picturesque walks alongside the river. There is ample parking on our driveway for 6 or more cars.
