Just over 10 miles down river near to the mouth of the Halladale you will find Melvich Beach, one of the best surfing beaches in Scotland. Melvich Beach is on the North Coast 500 touring route, so from River Cottage you can be on this well-known drive and exploring many amazing places with ease and at will. But to be honest once you arrive at River Cottage it’s pretty difficult to leave or stray far away, unless it’s with a rod in hand or surfboard under your arm!
