Lizzy's place was lovely very clean and decorated to a high standard, it had a small rear garden which was lovely over looking the pond and a gym attached to the property and 2 bikes to use which was a nice added bonus. The location was peaceful and secluded.
My girlfriend and I stayed 3 nights at The Mustard Pot. It was an amazing cottage get away, surrounded by Beautiful scenery. The cottage had everything we could have wanted and Lizzy was always instantly there to help if we ever needed it. The location was perfect, being secluded and quiet whilst also being 5 minutes from Eye town centre, creating the perfect balance for comfort and logistics. We were also able to borrow bikes from Lizzy, which we used throughout our stay. Wish we had stayed longer
Been staying at MPC for a few months now whilst away for work. It really is a home from home. Lizzy has thought of everything you may need to make your stay more comfortable and enjoyable. Personal touches on arrival are always so lovely and welcoming. The area has lots to offer if you like walks and nature and the town itself isn’t a long walk - with all that you need. I highly recommend a stay at MPC!
Eye is a jewel of a town in North Suffolk with a wealth of interesting places to visit and friendly places to shop and eat. There are cafes, a deli, a newsagent, post office, a chemist, 2 butchers, 2 small supermarkets, a greengrocers. Also a clothes shop, Green Door antiques and Tudor bakehouse selling their delicious corn bread. The Handyman store which sells everything you would ever need and famous because of Ollie the internet sensation. He is a National Treasure! There is a market in the Town Hall every Wednesday morning and on Friday the fish van and a fruit and veg stall come to the centre of Eye outside The Handyman store.
Dominated by its outstanding Victorian flint and brick Town Hall commissioned in 1857 by E B Lamb, the town of Eye was until the 1970s the smallest borough in the country. The Town is built around Eye Castle which possibly dates back to the eleventh century and is well worth a visit. You can take a leisurely walk around the town trail and visit some of the wonderful historic buildings. The magnificent fifteenth century Church of St Peter and St Paul is featured in the Churches and Chapels section of “Days Out in Suffolk” available from Mid Suffolk Tourist Information Centre. The town is twinned with Pouzauges in France.
It takes about 15-20 minutes to walk into Eye either via the footpaths around the fields or on the pavement at the top of the avenue.
A little further afield and unmissable is a visit to Harleston about 15 minutes by car from Eye. There is a wonderful cafe there called 'Soul'. Recently opened they serve the best coffees in the area, delicious cakes and a lovely varied lunch menu. Lots of lovely shops nearby too.
Heading towards Bury St Edmunds a visit to Wyken Vineyards is a must! They have a beautiful shop filled with lovely things, a cafe and restaurant too. There is a farmers market every Saturday morning where you can buy wonderful local produce.
Then there is the beautiful Suffolk coast, the tidal rivers and amazing bird life.......
There is a direct train link to London Liverpool street station from Diss. The station is under 10 minutes from the cottage. Taxis can be booked to collect you from the station. We are a short walk into Eye via the footpaths across fields or the pavement into town from the beginning of Brome Avenue. There is an hourly bus service into Diss from Eye.
Norwich, Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich are each 40 minutes from Eye. The Suffolk coast, beautiful Southwold and Aldeburgh are 50 minutes by car with many stunning rural villages on the way.
