This place was a beautiful blend of traditional and modern aspects. You get to stay in a beautiful countryside in traditional Sikkimese tribal cottages, go hiking in the nearby village, but also unwind in a restobar with great food and live music. The host, the staff and even the other guests made us feel so warm and welcome. We strongly recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience a blissful rural life.

I must warn people who're phobic of bugs and spiders that the cottages have plenty of them, the walls are made of bamboo strips and wood, they're hollow and have plenty of gaps in between the walls and the roof from where quite big spiders and bugs crawl in, we saw 4 big spiders within the six nights we stayed for, we weren't at peace to say the very least. Had to stay up almost half of a night until a staff arrived in the morning to kill a spider which was running around, a spider was almost inside my boyfriend's luggage 🧳 o.o The staff were pretty polite and helpful though, I must add. The food served was somewhat good too, there were no eateries/cafes around so we had to order from the restaurant inside the homestay. There wasn't much to do outside either, we had booked the place for 6 nights and I'd stay it'd have been good for 2-3 at max, got pretty boring quick. We took a guided hike to 2 waterfalls, a pine forest, a few monasteries etc, which my boyfriend found quite enjoyable, the guide was good and knew what he was doing, I however had some difficulties on the hike due to the rainy weather and the mud on the path; we were quite afraid of leeches being around too as we had been warned and had seen plenty around the property. Eshab wasn't always readily available at the property but he tried to help with as much as possible, he said he'd fix the hot stone bath for us but that wasn't done. Prior to our arrival, we weren't informed that the spa/hot stone bathtub wasn't open, felt very disappointed as that was one of the major reasons we booked, we wouldn't have had we known. The pet dogs at the property were quite overwhelming to deal with, if one's not very enthusiastic about dogs it'd be a problem, we were quite inconvenienced at times. Overall we had expected better from the reading the previous reviews that were posted, wasn't a peaceful stay for us.

Eshab is a wonderful host. The homestay is very comfortable even for a family of 4. We had a wonderful time. The food in the restaurant with live music was awesome. Don't miss the guided hike to nearby places..
