The neighborhood of Mill Ridge Resort is located in Foscoe, directly in between Boone and Banner Elk. Mill Ridge Resort begins the moment you drive over the Watauga River. In the 1960s and 1970s Mill Ridge was a Ski Resort and was primarily used as a mountain retreat for people that lived off the mountain. Mill Ridge Resort is a quiet community with scenic streets that provide homes for both long term, short term and vacation rentals. The expansive common grounds of Mill Ridge boast rushing streams, ponds and hiking trails up the old ski slope to the rusted remains of the old ski lift. The ponds are homes to migratory birds and make for excellent bird watching. The “resort” feeling is still alive and evident with amenities like the community outdoor heated swimming pool, tennis courts, 1/2 basketball court, children's play area with swing-set, clubhouse, and wonderful fishing off the Watauga River.

Our community is directly off of HWY 105, which is paved and maintained by the county. Depending on the season you visit, you should not need 4WD to access the property. This suggestion varies based on the season and your comfortability with mountain roads.
The community road is paved and marked, and the drive up the community at times gets tight around curves and bends in the road. We suggest driving slowly and cautiously as you ascend up the mountainside to our cabin. As you will notice, there are plenty of neighbors who walk our community roads as a form of exercise, so please be attentive.
We also request renters to be aware and vigilant for sudden weather changes. I've personally seen inclement weather arrive as soon as October and pop up sporadically till April. When inclement weather happens, our community tries to be as diligent as possible by salting and scraping the roads. But, as everyone knows, ice is impossible to navigate. Because of this, being aware and alert to weather changes can allow you to make personal decisions on where to park or drive, allowing you and our neighbors to stay comfortable and safe.
