A grand historic homestead with an excellent book collection, games, art, and with quality furnishings and linens. The house is set in gardens and surrounded by a quintessential rural Australian landscape of working farms, framed by distant ranges and brought alive with birds and nature generally. Hosts Mary and Keith made it a very special experience. Clear, timely and thoughtful communication from initial enquiry to check-in and a warm welcome on arrival. My room was large, private and very comfortable. I had my own private space to do my own thing, but also enjoyed getting to know Mary and Keith. They are interesting and engaging and hospitable and made me feel completely at home. And I was spoilt with delicious breakfasts and meals. Every touch was thoughtful, including fresh flowers from the garden in my room. I look forward to returning.

This is an incredible homestead with the most fabulous and engaging hosts, Mary and Keith. We were welcomed with a lovely wood fire and exceptionally yummy home baked goods. The breakfast was phenomenal and plentiful. The home has been lovingly and conscientiously restored, and Mary and Keith have many a story to tell, if you want to delve deeper in to its history. We had the most relaxing 2 nights here and can’t wait to step back in to history again very soon. Thanks again Mary and Keith. You were truly super hosts.

Being hosted by Mary at Birriwa homestead was a truly memorable experience- charming, luxurious and character filled homestead that despite the cold night (with a 6mo baby) was kept comfortable and cosy by roaring fireplaces, heaters and electric blankets. Dinner by Mary was incredible, as was the breakfast spread in the dining room. A magnificent old house lovingly restored and maintained, furnished in a manner that felt like it would have in the 20s (with modern comfort). Perhaps it came at a time when we needed it most, being on road with family and small dog, but this was one of our top 5 Airbnb’s ever (across 10+ years, hundreds of stays around the world). Our stay at Country Homestead was absolutely beautiful. Mary was the perfect host from the minute of our arrival offering a history of the homestead & area . Her cooking was amazing-we had the Supper on offer . The Homestead itself has remained its old world charm , managing to be extremely comfortable & cozy . We would definitely return for another relaxing weekend away.
