Hyampom · 整套客房 · 1室1床1.0卫 · 可住3人 · Peaceful Wilderness Retreat
Lovely guest house in the wilderness of Trinity County, ideally suited as a retreat setting far away from city living for an individual or a couple. Nestled in a tiny town with little traffic, no cell phone reception (but WiFi calling!) and nature as far as the eye can reach, the property butts up against the wild and scenic South Fork of the Trinity River. Here you will be able to unwind, relax and make the space your own for just a few days or up to a month. INTERNET is fast and reliable! The Guest House is about 40' from the Main House, where the host lives. Enough plants are grown around each house to provide privacy in the summer/fall. The property has a farm vibe. There are large vegetable gardens, fruit trees and I raise duck and lamb. The guest house has wooden floors, tiles and a wood stove (heats whole house, firewood provided) for the winter, and 2 AC's for the hot summers where temperatures can reach into the 90s/100s. As you can see in the pictures there is a cute wooden kitchen and wooden full bath. The furniture is simple but comfortable with a small patio place outdoors right next to the house under a Cottonwood Tree and White Birch Tree. You will have your private entrance and parking. The mattress is by Taft and Needles (apparently toxin free and very comfy), the sheets are 100% cotton and I use non toxic cleaning products and laundry soap. The kitchen> is fully equipped with cookware, dishes, water kettle, microwave, clean well water, Berkey water-filter, blender, full oven, towels, 4 slice toaster, full fridge, coffee machine, 2 cup coffee drip unit, and cooking exhaust fan. There are some condiments and non toxic bathroom products available. A small AC unit is provided in the bedroom, plus 1 in the pantry room (kitchen), and one ceiling fan in the living room. I do offer moderate washer and dryer use to guest who stay 4 nights or longer. MOST IMPORTANT: There is no cell phone reception in town or anywhere near it, however I do provide unlimited WIFI. However most phones have wifi calling and when turned on you receive all calls and messages from any phone brand. There is no Dishwasher in the Guest House. This place is not suitable for children, pets or indoor cigarette smokers. Babies/Toddlers are ok. Feel free to ask any questions if you are curious about anything else that isn't mentioned here!
Marlen is an excellent host. She took the time to show us her farm, even gave her some duck eggs from the farm. Her place is exactly as described, it’s so peaceful and calming. This is an excellent place to decompress. One of the best airbnb places I have ever stayed at!! We will definitely be visiting her place again! And anyone reading this, should definitely give it a try!
Marlen is a wonderful host! Her place is beautiful, clean and very peaceful. I love being able to get right down to the river.
I spent 2 months at Marlen’s place and it was great. I was working remote and working off the internet wasn’t a problem. It went down I think twice after hours (for maintenance) but not during work day. The speed was totally fine and I even played games on it. The location it self is a treasure. I loved the walks in the valley and its proximity to parks that are usually a long drive from the big cities. Marlen was a great host as well and showed me around the place. The goats were really friendly as was Copper, Marlens dog. I would visit again eagerly, and you should too!
Marlen has a beautiful home. It is unreal! It feels like a beautiful vacation every day. The home is surrounded by beautiful & vast nature. This stay is incredible!
I had a wonderful stay at the Wilderness Retreat. The cottage itself was great. Everything was clean, the kitchen was well-stocked for cooking meals, the bed was very comfortable, the WiFi was reliable and fast and the two ACs kept things cool in the afternoon. If you wander down to the river behind the house, you can say hi to the sheep and ducks. There are also a few nice walks/swimming holes in the immediate area. As other people have stated in their reviews, be aware that this place is remote (which is the whole point of staying here!). So make sure you bring plenty of groceries etc. That said, there are lots of day trips you can take to explore the area. Lastly, Marlen was a great host. She’s super friendly and easy to communicate with. And even though the main house is a stones throw from the cottage, she has done a great job of creating the feeling of seclusion. So if you’re looking to escape for a bit, and not break the bank, this is your spot.
The property is adjacent to a country road and though you can hear the traffic as it goes by, the amount of cars is small in this town of 250 people. There are 2 neighbors that are quiet and considerate and far enough away to enjoy your privacy and nature retreat. The property is 5 Acres and borders the South Fork of the Trinity River and Hayfork Creek. There is a short little trail near the house for walks or jogs, and plenty of pristine swim spots/holes all over this area. We have a small Post Office and one small General Store that offers some basic non organic food items/supplies, gas and propane. I grow my own produce and will be happy to share any excess during your stay. However, it is important to arrive well prepared with food and supplies before arriving at property. The next closest town with more amenities is Hayfork, and it's about a 40 minute drive.
Hyampom is very remote and located in nature as far as the eye can see, it is in the 'wild west'. There is no police station in town and sometimes loud noise are out of my control from surrounding areas, loud 4x4 trucks or delivery trucks.
The property is along the main road and is easy to find when you get into town but is about 2 hours from Redding in the East or Arcata in the West. You have to keep in mind that there is no cell phone service here and I would suggest to set your GPS before leaving one of these bigger places with cell reception. Also try to study the map thoroughly yourself and be aware that it can be quite easy to get lost in the back country roads so try to know where you are and where you are going.
