This is a great find. Very spacious rental with comfortable beds, modern bathroom with great water pressure, many windows and well equiped kitchen. Location is also excellent, near to many good restaurants, shops, taxis, grocery stores and historical temples. Very quiet at night as it’s off the main street by about 15 meters. Highly recommend.

The apartment is very large, with windows on 3 sides, allowing for great cross ventilation. Located near many shops, restaurants, tour operators, etc., yet down a short alley so there’s no night street noise. It has great a/c, comfortable beds, modern bathroom etc. I’m in Thamel for awhile, so I just booked another week. Highly recommend.

If you're coming to Kathmandu come to stay at Himalayan Ghar. The place, location, and team are just incredible and made our stay. Starting with the place. The photos dont do the size of the place justice. Two of us stayed here for four weeks, and we live in Airbnbs basically full time, and the size of apartment was wonderful. The furnishings were of a really high quality and there are loads of little details that really transcended this from a rental apartment to something that feels more like a home. The beds are so comfortable, sofas too, and to have a proper desk and chair was brilliant. Particularly for when I needed to do some work it was a welcome addition vs a dining room table and chair listed as a 'workplace'. This totally ignores the briliant rooftop terrance. Covid meant the cafe wasn't open but that just meant it was brilliant, quiet place to relax and just over the city and the hills and mountains. Plus as a birdwatcher some fantastic spotting to be had. The location is wonderful. You're tucked down a little access road so that means no traffic going past or wider noise. But you're only 400m from Northern Thamel, if that. You've got a great little shop just across the road for any essentials (80m), a brilliant coffee bar in Coffee Ghar just on the doorstep, have the lemon drizzle cake (130m), wonderful restaurants on the doorsteps - have the croissant with egg and bacon at Himalayan Arabica Beans (200m). Plus laundry services across the road for 100 rupees per kg for next day pick-up. Then you're only a few minutes from the main streets of Thamel and we used a great gym at Thamel Physical Fitness - just shy 10 mins walk and like 3,000 rupees for the month. Finally the staff. Bijay and the team made our stay. Nothing was too much to ask for and they offered cleaning of the room every couple of days as we were a long stay which was so kind. We felt welcome from day one, helped by the complimentary airport pick-up and they even put us on the top floor for the views which they didnt have to do at all. Such was their kindess I forgot something in the room while we where checking in for our flight to leave Nepal and Bijay drove like half an hour to the airport from their home to bring it to us. Plus they helped us organise excursions and got us a big discounts vs quoted prices at agents. We've spent eight months on the road so far in two continents in over 10 properties. I can not say enough that Himalayan Ghar, even ignoring the wonderful price, was just the best of the bunch. Book it before someones else does :-)

Well where do I start, I booked into the Himalayan Ghar on Airbnb some time ago, I think I was their first booking through the site. The pictures looked great and the location clinched it so book it I did for 8 nights. On arrival I was met from the airport at no additional cost, a service repeated at the end of my trip. Booking into the room was painless and I was soon relaxing in my air conditioned room. I booked the suite with a living and separate bedroom area which for one is more space than you would ever need, comfortable for three luxurious for a solo traveller. Aircon cold, beds comfortable and showers hot, that only leaves food and there the service just got even better. You can take your food as room service or as I chose to do on the rooftop terrace both for the view and the interaction with the staff. The menu is varied and I didn’t struggle a single night to find something to eat. Wings on fire, hot and sour soup, butter chicken (I did ask for this the have green chillies the second time I ate it) and Jhoi Momo (dumplings with chicken in a fragrant sauce). The area Thamel you will notice as you come from the airport is crazy and dusty. The chaotic traffic becomes normal after a couple of days. Trips out... arrange them at the desk, the prices are good and your picked up and dropped off at the hotel, if you haven’t done the mountain flight then do, you can’t come that close and not see Everest. I will finish by thanking Bijay and his team for making my first trip to Nepal an exceptional event and making it truly feel like I was at home. The location could not be any better. Five minutes walking from the most popular location in Thamel, Mandala Street, but just far enough from the clubs and music to be very quiet for sleeping. I had plenty of privacy and was able to come and go as I pleased. I felt safe in the area. They provide jugs of purified drinking water and the kitchen is fully equipped for any cooking. A great place to stay :)
