This pretty 18th century stone cottage can be found in a quiet village location in beautiful Rutland. The cottage includes a wood-burner in the sitting room and walled courtyard garden for al fresco dining. The church spire can be seen from the garden and is lit-up at night. The popular Railway pub is a 2-minute walkway and the village vineyard approximately 15 minutes. There’s a play area around the corner for young children. The village is ideal for walking. The sitting room includes two sofas, one of which is a sofa-bed comfortably sleeping one. There’s also a wood burner and smart tv with Freesat. The main bedroom has a 5ft U.K. king-size bed and bedroom 2 a standard 4 ft 6 inch double. The eat-kitchen includes table and chairs comfortably seating four. There’s a table and chairs in the garden, also seating four.
A delightful, lovely cottage in a super location! Gillian was so responsive and helpful and the cottage was just ideally placed for our stay. It was clean, beds were very comfy, and the cottage was just really cosy. There's a lovely back garden/courtyard in a sunny spot and a vibrant little village pub right on the doorstep too. Ketton is a pretty village and a great location for walking and cycling as well. Thank you!
Really enjoyed a 3 night stay with my wife and 12yo. Characterful stone cottage right in the heart of a beautiful stone-built village and next door to a super pub. Spotlessly clean, very comfortable beds and sofas, well equipped kitchen. Friendly, super-responsive host. Would definitely return and recommend!
We would recommend this property, the location is wonderful and peaceful. Local gym, pub and great walks. Easy drive to Stamford for the horse trails. Thanks
Rutland is a relatively unknown gem in the east of England. Similar in style to the Cotswolds, it is perfect for those looking for a relaxing escape to the country.
The area is known for its beautiful Georgian stone-built market towns and villages, Burghley House with its Capability Brown-designed gardens, Rutland Water - and its green, rolling hills.
Ketton village includes a shop with post office, popular village pub, vineyard, library, children’s playground and buses in to Stamford and Oakham (via Rutland Water).
In the area, visitors have easy access to a variety of activities including sailing, fishing, walking, bird watching, cycling, golf, National Trust properties and the theatre - as well as a plethora of cosy pubs, award-winning restaurants and cafes. Stamford also provides great shopping including stylish boutiques, home-ware and specialist food shops. Local supermarkets include M&S, Tesco and Waitrose. The popular Burghley Horse Trials take place every September.
There is a bus service from the village, to both Stamford and Rutland Water (the R5 managed by Blands). However, it does not run in the evenings and on Sundays, so we’d advise guests have access to a car.
