An amazing place set in beautiful nature offers special energy of peace and relaxation and creativity. Akiko is a superb host, attending to guests needs, informing about local attractions and at the same time allowing personal space, all with joy and warm hospitality. Akiko’s Airbnb is primarily for individuals seeking “personal or retreat time” to re-charge, re-energize, to deepen their practice in meditation or yoga or martial arts or walking. Shower, refrigerators and kitchen facilities included in all accommodations. I stayed in Akiko’s Airbnb for a month while writing, introspecting, relaxing, admiring the nature and participating in some of the activities. Certainly, I will come back whenever my schedule allows

Akiko is an incredible guide to Hakalau and a wise woman who lives her practice and is kind enough to share it with anyone who walks through her doors. I highly recommend Akiko’s Buddhist Bed & Breakfast for anyone on a retreat- especially the Monastery house where I stayed.

Alan Watts wrote that "those who try to possess are in fact possessed," and thereby "slaves to their own illusions about life." In accord with the Yeun-Chioh Sutra, all things are "like drifting clouds, like the waning moon, like ships that sail the ocean, like shores that are washed away..." Akiko's Bed & Breakfast offers an opportunity to feel these principles in manifest form. I am grateful to have met Akiko and to have partaken of her presence. So shall you.

My second visit to Akiko's oasis - the beauty of the land, the sound of the rain on the roof, the fresh food from the farmers market and Akiko's warmth and elegance make this a very special place. I'll be back again next year!

Come with open heart, or, allow it to open here. Rest assured, you are in best hands. This is not a regular bnb, and some amenities may not be ideal for you.. this is history, community, heart and soul! Trust this land with care and respect and it will pay you back ten times more. It is a true advise to stay longer than 10 days as it will allow you to fully experience the beauty of the island and make friends, learn from Akiko's wisdom, take yoga classes and magical neighborhood walks and practice your better self.
