Sir John’s Bungalow is a historic lodge perched up on the hillside with stunning views down into the valley. It feels a world away from it all and there are stunning walks in the area. We stayed in the upper cottage and our room was large and immaculately cleaned. The staff at Sir John’s are very attentive and made our stay really enjoyable. We had breakfast and dinner, and the Chef took the opportunity of having western guests to create some really tasty western styled dishes with a Sri Lankan twist. The servings were generous and dinner served by candlelight The historic context of the lodge makes it very popular with Sri Lankan guests. We were visited by several types of monkeys and water buffaloes. Given the location, Sir Johns is somewhat rustic but this just added to the atmosphere for us. BYO if you fancy an evening drinking after a day of hiking.

I had a great experience at the bungalow, would highly recommend. The location is fantastic, couldn't ask for better views (especially sunrise). The bungalow has a lot of charm, very relaxing place to spend the night. Lovely soft beds. Staff at the bungalow were lovely, great team of people. They were extremely helpful arranging day trip and transport. Bungalow scores a ten out of ten for me!
