Menuka and family were so welcoming and helpful to me during my four weeks in Pokhara. I was very well looked after, cooked amazing food and the house really does have beautiful scenery! Ganga’s place is ideal if you want to experience the real Nepalese family side of Pokhara and is extra handy for anyone studying/working at Manipal hospital (as I was) which is only a 20 minute walk away (or 5 minutes on the back of Menuka’s scooter!)

When you stay with the Thapa family in Pokhara, you are guaranteed a clean and comfortable room in a quiet home with the most beautiful family that will care for you like a relative visiting from out of town. You can expect amazing and tasty Nepali food prepared by one of the best cooks in Pokhara! We planned our visit during Tihar to participate in local celebrations. Menuka and Deu not only invited us out to celebrate with their friends for a fun night of dancing, but also included us in several private and beautiful ceremonies in their home. They created memories for us that we will cherish the rest of our lives, and I have so much love and gratitude for these beautiful women. The home is in a very safe and quiet neighborhood away from the tourist parts of town. However if you want to visit the shops on the lakeside, it’s an approx. 12 minute and reasonably priced cab ride. Oh and the view of the mountains from the rooftop is stunning! I highly recommend staying here when visiting Pokhara. It’s a perfect place for couples, like us and especially safe for solo female travelers. I promise you will instantly feel like you are at home away from home.

An authentic Nepali experience for an elective student working at Manipal teaching hospital. Deu cooked very tasty food for a very reasonable price and the place was very conveniently located to Manipal teaching hospital. I hired a bike for 150 rupees a day to cycle there but walking would be very easy too. It’s a little further out from lakeside (the main tourist area) where many of the other students were staying but only costs 25 rupees on the bus so could still go to meet them and hang out there when I wanted to. The room was comfortable with everything I needed and Menuka and Deu were very kind to me and I felt like part of the family! Thank you for everything.

We had a fantastic experience staying at Ganga's home with her family. The peaceful location is beautifully scenic and within easy reach of local travel services to Pokhara city centre and beyond; it is also within walking distance to Manipal Teaching Hospital which will especially appeal to elective students / hospital workers. I cannot commend Ganga enough on the excellent communication we shared. She is very diligent, and was always highly responsive to our messages and queries which made our stay truly stress-free. It is no surprise at all that Ganga has been acknowledged as a SuperHost on Air BnB - which is truly deserved. Our en-suite room was always kept sparkling clean and had everything we needed for our 30-day trip. Ganga's Mum and sister were always on hand to offer advice and their hospitality was tremendous. I would recommend trying Mum's delicious cooking for an authentic experience of Nepali cuisine. I would highly recommend staying with Ganga's family if you are spending time in Pokhara. It represents superb value and we felt like part of the family. I do hope we stay in touch. Thanks again.
