Recently renovated family villa, this quinta (orchard) is centrally located, a perfect homebase from which to explore the island. The villa dates back to the orange production era of the 1800s and still has one+ acre of fruit trees guests can pick from. Three guest suites on the ground floor, beautifully converted into boutique accommodation. Local breakfast served daily in a converted wine cellar. Stroll the grounds, enjoy the infinity pool and lounge areas around the property. This Guestroom (13.6m2 or 146 sq ft) with private ensuite bath (2.4m2 or 26 sq ft) was formerly used for potato/vegetables storage and is known as the “Loja da batata”. The original ceilings feature exposed beams, volcanic lava stone windows and door frames adorn the clean white decor. Guests can enjoy a meeting of the traditional with contemporary Azorean architecture. The room can be configured as one double (140 cm X 200 cm)

We loved Ana’s place. Room was simple but the common spaces were fantastic. Pool and hot tub in a beautiful setting. A kitchen bbq area with fridge if you wanted to cook. We did meat cheese and salad one night and stayed in. Breakfast was delicious, fresh fruit, bread, cheese boiled eggs and usually some sort or pastry. Her knowledge of the island is very helpful. Also she has dogs that greet you every time you come home. The outdoor space allowed us to unwind at the end of each day after touring the island. We enjoyed meeting the other guests as well. Highly recommend

We had a very good stay at Quinta do Paraizo. The place is a gem, the garden is the beauty of it. Ana was nice at all times giving us info on sightseeing and also calling for us to book things. She was very handy and nice to talk with, explained the story of this place that belongs to his family since many years. We would love to stay again! M & M.
La Quinta do Paraizo is a great place to stay, there is a gorgeous garden, and we were glad to enjoy the pool after our long walks in the beautiful landscapes of Saõ Miguel. Ana is very kind and gave us great tips. I absolutely recommend this place !

We are in Rabo de Peixe, about 15 minutes drive from the airport, 10 from downtown Ponta Delgada, and 25 from Furnas. The neighborhood includes many "canadas" or small alleyways amidst fruit orchards that are perfect for walking, running or biking and free from traffic. There are also excellent restaurants within a 5km radius.
Rabo de Peixe is a traditional fishing village on the island, rich in culture and diversity. It is also a central place from which to explore the island.
Renting a car is the best way to get to the places you want to see around the island. Most locations are within a 10- to 15-minute drive; sometimes up for 30 or 45 minutes. Rentals are mostly manual, but automatics are also available. Taxis cost around 12-15 euros to downtown and 15-20 to the airport.
Alternatively there are walks you can do and we have contacts and partnerships for tour companies should you wish to sign up for hikes and experiences that include transport.
