Beautifully converted stables using rustic reclaimed materials, a cosy luxurious two bedroom cottage that is spacious and very well equipped. Beautiful oak flooring has been laid throughout the whole cottage, and there are huge rustic re-claimed beams and vaulted ceilings in most of the rooms. Broadwindsor is a popular, friendly and very historic conservation village, in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The cottage is very popular and guests return year after year. Beautifully converted stables using rustic reclaimed materials, a cosy luxurious two bedroom cottage that is spacious and very well equipped. The entrance leads into the hallway which has a lovely oak floor and pretty arched window. Access is provided to the bedrooms and bathroom. Beautiful oak flooring has been laid throughout the whole cottage, and there are huge rustic re-claimed beams and vaulted ceilings in most of the rooms Bedroom 1; King size bed. Wardrobe and chest of drawers, TV and DVD player. Lovely views of the village and paddock. Bedroom 2; two 3ft single beds, chest of drawers, TV and DVD player. All beds have comfortable high quality mattresses Family bathroom with toilet, basin and powerful shower over the bath. The open- plan lounge/kitchen/diner is comfortable, rustic and very spacious.. There is a large flat screen TV and DVD player. SKY TV, including Sky Movies channels. The kitchen has a table and 6 chairs and is very well equipped; with a double electric oven, microwave, fridge/ freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. There is shared use of a tumble dryer. In the living room there are glass doors which lead to a large decked balcony which has a seating area overlooking the paddock and surrounding countryside. PLEASE NOTE; PERSONAL TOWELS ARE NOT PROVIDED Broadwindsor is a popular, friendly and very historic conservation village, in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The cottage is very popular and guests return year after year. The White Lion pub is only about 400m from the cottage and is a successful Community Pub. It is very friendly with a welcoming village atmosphere. The pub serves great food and a good selection of beverages. Walkers and dogs are very welcome. There is a wonderful award winning Community Village Shop which provides a wide range of very good quality fresh local produce, and freshly baked bread every morning. A children's play area is in the centre of the village and there is a large well maintained sports field with football goals very close to the cottage. Historians will be interested in the 12th century church and King Charles Cottage in The Square where King Charles II was fleeing Parliamentary troops and he sheltered here for 2 nights. Enemy troops began to search the house, but were put off when a camp follower began to give birth in the kitchen. The troops left, and the king was able to escape dressed as a serving maid. Broadwindsor also has a renowned Craft centre, which also has a restaurant serving very good lunches. From the cottage there are lovely walks up Lewesdon Hill, owned by the National Trust, the highest hill in Dorset. Close-by there is wonderful walking in fantastic countryside

Elaine was helpful and attentive all through our stay. The house was great, comfy and was just right for us. The local countryside which we had lovely walks in with our dog was also easy to walk to from the front door. Elaine had great recommendations as well for walks and places to visit (best ever scotch egg from local bakery!). Local shop was brilliant too. All in all a very relaxing stay with a great host and we had good weather too. Thanks Elaine.

We had such a lovely week at the stables, it was very comfortable with everything we needed. Elaine was really helpful and kind , helping us sort bedding for our toddler and providing baby equipment. The stables were perfect for us and our young boys, with lots of freedom and space to explore, and the village is beautiful with a friendly pub! Really close to lots of interesting places to visit and lovely beaches. We will hopefully be back one day!

Lovely stay at Elaine’s. It’s a beautiful place and location. Short drive to the coast and some lovely walks nearby. The local pub was great. And if your there on a Tuesday get Fish and Chips from the van by the pub! Highly recommend! X

This is one of those reviews when you would like to write something negative so that you can easily book again because it was so magical. The place was so lovely that all 3 of us spontaneously said ooh I could live here full time. Elaine encouraged us to go to The White Lion on our arrival as it was rib night. I love ribs, and they were superb. And it was only a short walk to get there too. Our dogs were very chilled out there, too. It was just the escape that we were looking for. If I had to sum it up in just one word.... PERFECT

Beaminster; a small historic market town is 3 miles away it has a wonderful square and church. It has several pubs, cafes, restaurants and a small Co-op store. There is also a butchers, baker and green grocers, all of which provide fresh , quality produce.
Bridport is about 7 miles away; it is a wonderful lively town with with a fascinating history and a thriving art and music culture. It has all the facilities of a small town including a small cinema, art centre and a famous street market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There are an abundance of units selling antique furniture, Art and collectables around the historical St Michaels Trading Estate.
The charming fishing harbour of West Bay is just a few minutes drive from Bridport.
Now famous as the location for 'Broadchurch', West Bay has something for everyone.
It is a thriving harbour and there is a wonderful beach below the towering spectacular Jurassic red cliffs. Fishing and crabbing are very popular from the harbourside.
There is also an attractive, sandy dog friendly beach.
There are numerous food kiosks selling all sorts of delicious food. Rachel's kiosk is rated as the best food in the whole of Bridport and Baboo Gelato Ice cream kiosk sells the best ice cream too.
The incredibly beautiful and historic Customs House has recently been re-opened to the public and it is now a fascinating collection of units selling all sorts of antiques, collectables and wonderful gifts.
The renowned town of Lyme Regis is about 25 minutes drive from the cottage, with it's range of wonderful beaches. There is a beautiful safe sandy beach ideal for younger children to splash, play and swim.
There is a huge rockpool area and a dog friendly pebble beach.
There are also beaches where fossils can be found and guided fossil tours take place. Lyme Regis offers a host of other activities for all ages and interests.
The back streets of Lyme Regis are full of character and history and there is a working mill where a fascinating tour is available.
There is abundance of wonderful places to eat and drink and there are numerous interesting shops to wander around too.
Dorset is characterised by rolling hills, winding valleys, and beautiful villages. The area abounds in historic monuments and beautiful scenery. The Jurassic coast is the only Natural World Heritage site in England and offers fantastic scenery and lovely beaches. The area is a walkers paradise and provides endless opportunities for hikers, families and children.
There are numerous formal gardens and historic houses; Mapperton Gardens; nr Beaminster, 4 miles; Forde Abbey; approx 15 min drive;Montecute House, (NT), approx 20 min drive; Tintinhull (NT) approx 40 min away;Barrington Court (NT) approx 45 min away; Abbotsbury – Tropical Gardens and childrens farm) 30 min away; Kingston Maurward, Dorchester, 35 min away (also has childrens farm)
