We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The cabin is cozy and beautifully restored. While the architecture was 19th century, we appreciated the modern appliances. I was a little hesitant about the outdoor shower, but it is roomy and well designed for privacy, and felt great after an afternoon hike. It was also nice to soak in the claw foot tub. There were so many other nice touches: Bob’s delicious baguettes, of which we were never without, the several bird feeders, the welcome basket with a variety of snacks… Bob proved to be an excellent resource about local hikes and night sky photography. Would definitely recommend.
This cabin is priceless, and its hosts wonderful. You can’t go wrong booking here. Not only do you get a beautifully crafted place to rest and enjoy, but you get fantastic hosts who know everything about Escalante and are willing to share their knowledge. Highly recommend.
This is a small but beautifully restored, equipped and decorated cabin. There is great attention to detail and all facilities work very well. Lots of nice touches including active bird feeders on the patio. We had a wonderful stay.

This might be our favorite Airbnb stay ever. Lisa and Bob restored this historic cabin and created a charming, super comfortable, and very special place. We came for hiking in the area, which was great, but the cabin charmed us into slowing down to make sure we took time to just totally relax, enjoy the porch, the birds, the quiet stroll into the cool little town. We savored the peace and quiet and the atmosphere of the cabin. We also savored Bob's baguettes he left for us - fantastic! Lisa and Bob also left a great selection of hiking snacks, GOOD coffee, lotions, handmade soaps...you name it, we felt very spoiled. They've thought of everything to make you feel welcome and at home. They also have a lot of hiking guides and maps there, and Bob was super helpful with our questions about road conditions and hiking areas. Escalante is a neat, friendly town and they pointed us to some great places to eat, drink, shop etc. We loved our stay at Old Bailey's Place and plan to return!

I am a retired court reporter. I am a painter, print-maker, design and create artist books, and jewelry designer. I love to create recipes and entertain. I garden and during the summer months we eat mostly what I grow. I am an avid reader, respectful and honest. I travel light. (My husband disagrees.). When I travel, it is usually off the beaten path with worn-in walking shoes or for a civic/social purpose. I carry an umbrella, a light day pack, and a fold-up walking stick -- just in case. I am married to a great guy, Bob, who carefully renovated The Old Bailey Place (with a just a bit of help. ) We had a vision of creating a unique and comfortable cabin while retaining its authenticity. He is an artisan bread baker, and has quite a following for his delicious baguettes. His business is The Burro Baking Outfit, and you can find his 5 star baguettes at the local Mercantile and other restaurants in town. He is a man of many talents. We raise puppies through Canine Companion for Independence to become service dogs to those in need: Service dogs assist adults with physical disabilities by performing daily tasks. Hearing dogs alert their partners, who are deaf and hard of hearing to important sounds. Facility dogs work with clients with special needs in a visitation, education, criminal justice or health care setting. Skilled companions enhance independence for children and adults with physical, cognitive and developmental disabilities. Some puppies graduate and some do not. We live with our "COC, Change of Career" dog, Cabernet. She is our four-legged, waggy-tailed, furry housemate. She wanders the pasture, but will not be allowed to visit unless you would like a friendly kiss or a stick toss.
