This place was still not finished when I stayed here so hopefully it will improve once it’s complete. I have some positives and negatives that I think should be noted. I was not expecting this place to be as far out in the woods as it was. Be aware that this is located on a steep dirt road which can be very sketchy to drive on especially if that’s something you aren’t used to. When I walked in my first impression is that it was nicer than I had expected. As my stay went on there were some things I noted that were less than desirable. As noted in the listing the shower constantly drips but due to this there is a clear mold issue along the shower. There are also spiders everywhere, I kept finding more as my stay went on. The humidifier that was on when I got there was okay until I started to get cold and realized that it had a tube going out the open window in order to work. Also another window would not close and lock properly. It definitely got really cold at night and I had to turn on the heater. You can also hear the people upstairs walking around and talking, not super loud but it’s not completely quiet. Some of the things I liked are that the tv had lots of watching options and having a full kitchen was convenient. The little sitting area outside was also nice.

Dans place is currently unfinished. Ceilings are bare drywall. Some electrical boxes had no covers. The shower constantly drips. And a dehumidifier runs 24-7. It is currently rented as a studio but seems to be in the construction phase of adding a bedroom. This was all reflected in the value of staying here at this time. Aside from the dehumidifier the place was peaceful. Ample parking for my Jeep, trailer, and motorcycle. Convenient to Meredith and Weirs Beach. Yet remote enough for solitude. If we return we would be looking to stay again.

Dan’s place is a unique peaceful retreat set in a mountain, a quiet and beautiful landscape. The unit has all the conveniences and is clean and tidy. The cleanliness is evident and we felt comfortable there even during these Covid times. Dan met us as we arrived, and as questions arose Dan responded immediately, a very gracious host We would not hesitate to rent Dan’s unit again.

A nice place to “get away” while still having modern comforts. It’s about a 20-30 minute drive from lots of options for fishing, kayaking, hiking, and swimming. There’s also a hiking trail within about a 20-minute walk, and a boat launch about a 5-minute drive. Or you can just enjoy being in the quiet of the woods, essentially away from other people. (The couple who lives in the upstairs apartment were very low-key.) The area around the house is very well-kept, including a garden which Cindy tended to by hand during our stay. Dan and Cindy were both very kind, helpful, and thorough! There were lots of little touches and attention to detail - they genuinely wanted to help make our trip what we wanted it to be.
