My 10 year old daughter and I decided to take an overnight camping trip and Lake Heron was a great choice for us. Will definitely be back.

Great location. Right on a lake. Cabin is ok but can be improved. Overall we head a great time.

great place saw wildlife deer frogs fish went swimming the lake it gets really dark at night so be brave met the lady the runs the place her and her dog were nice i give 4.5 stars would love to stay longer but we needed showers

The host was incredibly rude when I reached out via phone regarding the check-in process. There is ZERO safety precautions for check-in. It is an unlocked cabin, and you just pull up and walk in. I wasn’t aware of this, so I called to inquire about the check-in process, the woman who returned my call (although timely), was very rude and stated “did you not use airbnb for that” in a callous tone. I then re-explained that although I booked through airBNB I did not see any keys/passcode/direction information for checking in. She then said “there isn’t one, it’s not locked, you just go”. I was taken aback by the lack of safety to atleast lock the cabin so someone who is not an occupant can get in between guests. But, the callous tone made me uncomfortable and slightly embarrassed to ask any further questions. I was aware that it is primitive when it comes to amenities, this is the experience we wanted- however, a safe check in process is not an amenity... it’s just expected. We arrived at the cabin and my traveling companion noticed a rope in a tree that made them uncomfortable, and after they discovered the door had been unlocked- they were uncomfortable and we decided not to stay. I will say that I booked this last minute at 7pm, and the owner did return my phone call and send email directions. So, they were prompt- however abrupt they were to questions.
