Are you a boater? Launch your boat at the newly renovated state boat launch, Shell Landing a few hundred yards from the house. Boat to four restaurants and a vineyard or fish the Chesapeake Bay. It's just five minutes from Shell Landing out to the bay or to quaint Reedville (by car or boat). Or, rent a pontoon boat at Smith Point Marina on the Little Wicomoco River.
This home will exceed your expectations in charm, character and luxury. The owners have generously stocked the home with anything you would need from bandaids, beach toys and all the kitchen amenities. We spent thanksgiving here with our big family. Everyone loved the water views, kayaking and SUP in the bay, a short walk to the beach, and fires overlooking the water. Please follow the owners instructions and guides for home care well. They are helpful and will keep the home nice for a long time! Owners may consider changing the tone and orientation of some of the rules to match how welcoming and generous the home really is.
Just a beautiful property with beautiful owners. We could not have asked for anything more; perfection.
Our family had a wonderful time at Elizabeth's home. The old house charm with a modern update attracted us and its location by the bay for boating sold us on renting for a summer vacation. There is so much to do at the house from kayaking & paddle boarding to crabbing & taking in the water views. There is great space for board games/ movie night, sitting out on porches to rock, read or talk, or at the pit for a fire. We took our boat out on the bay a few times to cruise, fish, watch for dolphins. Area markets sell seafood for a stay at home shrimp boil, steamed crabs, etc. Away from the house great nearby restaurants, window shopping in Kilmarnock and classes at the Tides Inn are options too. We came across friendly and welcoming people in the community from the marina across the inlet & the farmers market to the local bakery and stores. Elizabeth was very responsive from the start, helpful with instructions for our stay and with suggestions for things to do. We would book again!!
Amazing home and property, beautiful setting, and welcoming host! Historic home and features with all the current day amenities. The waterfront location was great for fishing and crabbing with and for the kids, great campfire set up alongside the water, the paddle boards/floats/boats for use were a perfect addition. The home was welcoming and extremely comfortable in every space. This is the place where we were able to relax on any of the main porches, make dinner in the large kitchen as a family and enjoy a the time together with no distractions. The bedrooms/bathrooms were well furnished and felt stately. Elizabeth was a great communicator from start to finish! She provided fantastic recommendations that all were amazing. Thank you for an amazing stay!
From this spot near Fleeton Point, the entire region is accessible for outings. Wineries along Rt. 200 on way to Kilmarnock (25 min) and Irvington, even a boat-up winery!
Nature trails at Hughlett Point Natural Preserve, and of course, historic destinations.
Reedville, 5 minutes by boat or car, has two great restaurants, an ice cream shop, and fisherman's museum.
Go fishing on a local charter boat or catch the Chesapeake Breeze to Tangier Island! Even if you are not on the boat to Tangier, you can watch it leave and return right from the house.
Our view of the harbor of Cockrell's Creek is wide and we enjoy the parade of boats, especially the temporary neighbors when a sailboat moors for the night right out back.
