I generally only keep to positive points when writing Airbnb reviews, however it’s almost impossible with this listing. I would definitely not recommend staying here. The photos have been enhanced to make the home look clean and more updated. A lot of the furniture in the photos does not match the furniture in the home. Specifically the bed in the bedroom, and chairs in the living room and bedroom. While the location is center of town, close to restaurants and walking to the beach, it’s a terrible location as far as noise is concerned. Many of the outlets didn’t work, even after being reset. The only outlet in the kitchen didn’t work so we had to brew coffee in the bathroom The linens were old and musty. As well as the couches. I Cannot emphasize enough how disappointing this listing is

What a great find in Carpinteria. Seriously. Amazing location and a surprisingly spacious apartment. As other reviews have suggested, this is an older building, but it has charm! Lots of it. You just have to be ready for some quirks (like using a crank for all windows and creaky floors). But don't let either of those things deter you, this is a great space and the proximity to downtown can't be beat. I came down to Carp for a work trip and this place quickly became the after-work spot for wine out on the attached deck with colleagues. And because the house is on a quiet street it was the perfect way to wind down before walking through town and to the beach for a gorgeous sunset. Quick additional note: I read some previous reviews about noise, but I didn't find this a problem at all. If anything, you feel part of the energy of Carp. Yes, once in a while someone is loud at the gas station, but mostly, you just get to hear the energy of people eating outdoors at the local restaurants.

This property is clean for an old home and well located. It is pretty shabby. The lack of air conditioning was a challenge on a warm weekend and having the windows open with the sounds of the neighborhood and the startling brightness of the gas station all night combined with uncomfortable beds and bad pillows was pretty awful. The bathroom was old, dark and low ceilinged with the kind of bath mats that seem to harbor germs no matter how much fabreze is sprayed. We were not fans of this rental and felt the price was absurd for such a place, except. That the location is convenient to the beach.
