This charming cottage, home of Old Jack in the BBC children’s series Old Jack’s Boat starring Bernard Cribbins, looks out across red pantiled rooftops on the old village, the fishing boats in the beck, and the open sea beyond. Cosy, characterful and full of history, it’s perfect for a relaxing coastal escape or walking holiday, with the Cleveland Way running right past the door.

This design award winning detached property is surrounded by grounds which include a slope which may not be suitable for very young children. With stunning sea views, The Outlook is built into the hillside, access is via steps down from the road (or can be accessed via a steep path). Minutes from the Valley Gardens, on the beach path, close to the town centre; this is a beautiful spot. The Outlook sadly doesn’t lend itself well to those with mobility issues or very young children. Dog friendly.

Castleton is lucky to have two great pubs The Downe Arms with fabulous food and atmosphere right across the road and The Eskdale which serves lovely ‘fine dining food’ but also lovely just for a drink. There’s the Old Chapel Tearoom, a Londis & ‘Off the Scale’ shop We are also along the Esk Valley train line to Whitby

NB .. the bedroom is in the eaves so limited head room & accessed by reasonably narrow staircase/shower room is downstairs (therefore not suitable to elderly or tall people due to the limited headroom / due to size of the bedroom it is only a double bed). Situated on the Cleveland Way this is a perfect spot for walking & within walking distance to the lovely harbour village of Staithes (25 mins)

Free parking pass for the (“Homeowners car park). 3 nights minimum booking. No Pets. The property is not suitable for mobility problems due to steps. Check in 3pm. Check out 10.30am.

Situated on a pedestrianised cobbled street, the cottage is a stones throw away from the the beach, harbour, river and High St and a mere 30 second walk to pubs, cafes and art galleries.
