This over 4,500 acre conservation area was the world’s first permanent Dark Sky Reserve. Here, without the deluge of light pollution, you’ll be amazed by the brilliant stars that blanket our sky and if you go in the late summer or early fall you may even catch the northern lights. Torrance Barrens Conservation Area is great night and day. Enjoy hiking across Precambrian bedrock, wetlands, and keep an eye out for wildlife like the rare Eastern Bluebird and the five-lined skink – Ontario’s only lizard.
