These are words that have been used to describe the founders of Black Ridge, one of the southernmost vineyards in the world and the oldest in the Central Otago region, planted in 1981. A decision to grow varieties found in the same latitude and climate in the northern hemisphere was wise. Pinot Noir, Gewurztraminer, Riesling, Breidecker, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon were chosen. Now with almost 40 years of vine age and experience you can taste and buy wines with a real sense of place and expressiveness here at our cellar door with amazing views over the Alexandra basin.
