Founded in 1888, Toi o Tāmaki is the largest art institution in New Zealand, and boasts an engrossing collection of historic and contemporary works by both international and national artists. The gallery is spread throughout two buildings; the original which it has been based in since its creation, and its newly opened neighbor which has won multiple awards for its stunning architecture and design.

On a rainy day, visit Auckland's Art Gallery, located in the Arts Precinct. The Gallery holds a large selection of New Zealand and international artists, which is free to view, and has regular paid exhibitions.
