Agios Nektarios is one of the most beloved and important Orthodox saints, and the monastery itself features wonderful architecture. Paleachora, our ancient capital, is very close. It's a hill with ruins of 365 churches (destroyed by Ottomans in the 16th century)

The monastery was established by the saint himself, who was an Orthodox bishop, in 1904. Agios Nektarios lived in this monastery from 1908 to 1920. Today, this monastery is considered an important religious center in Greece. This large modern monastery in Central Aegina marks the turn off for the road to Paliachora Byzantine village and churches.
