ByWard Market is a buzzing hub of outdoor farmers’ market stalls and specialty food shops selling Canadian cheese and maple-infused chocolate. It’s also known for its colorful street art and hip stores filled with crafts and clothes by local designers. Surrounding eateries serve shawarma and BeaverTails (sweet fried pastries in the shape of a beaver’s tail). Nightlife encompasses rustic taverns and stylish gay bars.

The ByWard Market is Ottawa’s number one tourist attraction, and is the premier destination for shopping, dining, arts, entertainment and professional services for residents and visitors. This area averages 50,000 visitors per weekend in the summer months. It is home to both a local farmers’ market and artisans with many stands, as well as over 600 businesses.

Quaint downtown area, with small shops, big shops and a chilled vibe. Fun to walk through. 9 minutes' drive. Close to Parliament Hill and the Chateau Laurier.
